Our Story

DAISI is a small not for profit charity organisation founded in 1992, delivering information, resources and assistance to a diverse range of people. Our mission is to connect the disadvantaged, people with disability, and the aged to both formal and natural supports in their community to realise their full potential. We do this by providing up to date and relevant information that is easily accessible and user friendly. In an age of overwhelming information, DAISI is proud to provide impartial, independent information, from its central hub in Ballina. DAISI receives government funding from Family & Community Services, Ageing Disability & Home Care to provide free information, support planning and case management for referral, connecting and linking for the local community and service providers. FACS also fund our Working Carers Gateway project. DAISI has several social enterprises in the pipeline to become income generating activities. DAISI is a member of the Consortia of Neighbourhood Centres – Far North Coast. In addition DAISI aims to: * Foster a sense of belonging in the community by establishing an organisation facility, culture and systems that have inclusion as its foundation * Encourage the advancement of community by understanding the needs of the community and advocating on their behalf to relevant government or industry bodies. * Develop and provide appropriate informational resources to assist our local community and the organisations which work with them * Enhance community knowledge and awareness through education and training opportunities
