This morning Keith, one of our Independent Living residents, reeled in an impressive 86cm flathead right from the banks of Crowley. After posing for a few photos, she was carefully released and swam away strongly.

Moments like these highlight the connection to nature we enjoy every day, and the simple pleasure of spending time outdoors by the water. Thanks for sharing your great catch with us Keith and reminding us just how special our waterfront setting is. 🌊🐟

At this special time of year, we are truly grateful for the kindness and generosity shown to our Crowley community.

Thank you to St Francis Xavier Primary School for the beautiful Christmas cards, Ballina RSL for the thoughtful gifts for our veterans, and Halcyon Helping Hands for the lovingly handmade beanies that have brought so much warmth and joy. We also extend our sincere thanks to the many families and friends who have generously shared their appreciation, helping to make this season extra special.

We also acknowledge our wonderful Crowley staff, who delivered Christmas goodies to every resident, spreading festive cheer and heartfelt smiles across our home.

It’s moments like these that remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a caring and generous community. 💛🎄

To our residents - thank you for the warmth, wisdom and spirit you bring to Crowley every day.

To our families - thank you for your trust, love and continued support.

"December is always a month in which Jews and Christians rejoice in the Festival of Light. For Jewish communities, it is the feast of Hanukkah, and for us it is Christmas. As such, both communities greet each other with Happy Hanukkah or Merry Christmas. This year, it is different. On Sunday, 14 December 2025, the terrible Bondi Massacre occurred as Jewish people were celebrating the first day of Hanukkah. This was a heinous attack on the Jewish people in Australia.

I join with so many other religious and community leaders in rejecting what is happening in Australia. This is not the Australia that I was born in.

Christmas is a time in which we remember the love of God made manifest in a small baby born into poverty. I pray, that as we celebrate Christmas, this child may bring peace to anguished hearts and friendship between peoples. Let us not allow hatred and evil to overcome goodness and love.

In wishing you a Merry Christmas, I ask you to reach out to all in need and, in particular, to all who may be suffering as a consequence of the Bondi Massacre."

🕒 Christmas Eve: 9.30am – 4pm
🎄 Christmas Day: 9am – 12noon, 1pm – 5pm (Barney's Cafe closed Christmas Day)
🌟 Boxing Day: 9.30am – 2pm
🎉 New Year’s Day: 9.30am – 2pm

We encourage families to plan ahead and allow a little extra time, as the holiday season is always a busy and special time in our community.

"Last night the Jewish festival of Hanukkah began. At Bondi, many Jews gathered to celebrate Hanukkah, as we gather at midnight to celebrate Christmas. The terrible massacre was appalling and un-Australian. That two people should randomly shoot so many people gathered to enjoy a God-given festival is heinous."
