We always love our animal enrichment visits! 🐾

A big thank you to Grace, Audrey and the very adorable Chachi for stopping by and sharing some cuddles, pats and plenty of smiles with our residents. Visits like these bring so much joy, comfort and connection, and it’s always wonderful to see the happiness a furry friend can bring.

Thank you to our friends from NRAS for sharing the love with us - we can’t wait to see you again soon! 💛

🔍 Understanding Transitional Care

Did you know that transitions between care settings - such as moving from home to hospital or into residential care - can have a significant impact on a person’s wellbeing, particularly for people living with dementia?

At Crowley Care, we recognise how important it is to understand each individual and tailor our care and services to their unique needs, preferences and experiences, especially during times of change.

Our latest Chatterbox newsletter explores the concept of transitional care and why thoughtful, person-centred planning is so important in supporting positive outcomes for those we care for.

🌷 World Parkinson’s Day

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, with World Parkinson’s Day on 11 April dedicated to raising awareness and supporting people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s is a complex neurological condition that affects movement, mood and daily life. It is estimated that more than 200,000 Australians, including over 70,000 people in NSW, are living with Parkinson’s.

Days like this help raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis, research, advocacy and the role of exercise and support in managing Parkinson’s.

If you or someone you care for is living with Parkinson’s, there are local support groups and services available across the Northern Rivers that provide information, education and connection.

You can learn more or access support through Parkinson’s NSW on 1800 644 189 or at www.parkinsonsnsw.org.au.

🐰 Easter fun at Crowley Care!

Our residents enjoyed Easter celebrations with a week filled with arts and crafts, a pop-up shop, a special Easter morning tea and even a visit from the Easter Bunny.

There was plenty of creativity on display as residents got busy with their Easter bonnets, while the pop-up shop gave everyone the chance to browse and pick up a little Easter treat. A highlight was definitely a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny, who brought smiles and laughter all around.

The Easter spirit was wonderful to see at Crowley. 🐣

✝️ Bishop Greg’s Easter Message:

Growing up I always preferred Christmas to Easter. Both were holiday times; Christmas was Mass followed by gifts and a lunch with family and friends. Easter seemed to be overwhelmingly religious with long Church services which were tedious and tiresome for a boy. It was only in the last years of high school that I began to understand and appreciate Easter.

Every Church feast is about Jesus and me. In the feast we are joined. Heaven and earth come together, and I am led into a deeper self-knowledge through Jesus.

Easter celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ who suffered a most violent and seemingly meaningless death. From Palm Sunday we walk with Him and as we look into His eyes we recognise the plight of many people in our world today.

The last twelve months have been marked by gratuitous violence, decisions and actions which do not seem to focus on the wellbeing of others, and a mindset which is frankly selfish. As individuals we are lost in this, what is happening?

Jesus died understanding this experience, He carried it to the Cross. There is nothing in the present struggles of the world that are not in some way part of Jesus’ experience, and as such everything in us today connects us with Him. He questioned the Israel of his times, and he walked with all those on the periphery. He carried our hopelessness.

On Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead and in this we all rise with Him. We and the world are transformed. Yet, you will say nothing has changed. Everything changes if we have the eyes of faith filled hope. If my eyes change, I change and I see a world filled with love and hope. Our new vision can change the world.

I wish you a happy and blessed Easter.

☕🥧 Barney’s Café is buzzing!

Open seven days a week from 9.30am–3.30pm, Barney’s café serves up delicious sweet and savoury treats - from chicken pesto Turkish rolls and egg & bacon rolls to fresh cakes and what some might call the best coffee in Ballina. 😉

Wednesdays are all about the ever-popular Roast Special (no cooking or washing up required!), Fridays shine with our classic Fish & Chips, and Thursdays bring a little extra excitement with a Daily Special that keeps everyone guessing.

More than just coffee and cake, Barney’s is a place of connection, conversation and community - it’s wonderful to see so many familiar faces enjoying their favourite meals and catch-ups.

📞 Bookings are encouraged - especially for Roast Wednesday!

🌏 Harmony Week at Crowley: Everyone Belongs 🌏

Last week we were proud to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes our community so special. From Kiribati to Malayalam, Japanese to Spanish, more than 25 languages are spoken across our residents and staff, each bringing unique stories, traditions, and experiences.

During Harmony Week (16–22 March) we celebrate what makes Crowley special: a place where differences are welcomed, stories are shared, and everyone belongs. 💛
