In traditional Chinese medicine the latter part of summer signals the transition from the fire element to the Earth element. The expansive nature of fire is replaced with the steadiness and grounding of the earth. The space between the fullness of summer and the descent into autumn. As we enter this late summer period we find this is a perfect time to create change. To break old patterns and habits and to start fresh. This idea aligns well with our tendency to crave New Year’s resolutions and start new projects at this time.
During late summer our focus in yoga will begin to shift to the earth element facilitating the ability to start fresh, let go of old habits and begin to create new pathways and routines for ourselves. The earth element governs the digestive system as a whole, as well as mental patterns and cycles. In class we will look at the key digestive meridians as well as meridians, acupoints and mindfulness practices to help form new habits and different thought patterns.
If you want to start something new join us for yoga Monday nights, Friday mornings or book in for a shiatsu.
