There are so many treats on offer for Christmas. Over eating is so easy for all of us (of course including me).
If you are trying to moderate here are some simple tips:
- Eat/drink slower, it will give you brain satiety signals time to catch up with your gut.
- Be selective, focus on quality over quantity.
- Treat it like a marathon, not a sprint. Know there is a long road ahead of eating/drinking.
- Serve yourself smaller portions/drinks, even if you go back for more, it will help you eat less.
- Do not guilt yourself, if you would like a treat, eat or drink it & enjoy, trying to deny & over restrict yourself will more likely lead to you a bigger blowout.
- For alcohol, there are some amazing non alcohol options available, that look like alcohol, so nobody will know any different.
- Drink slowly, and aim to have a glass of water with a glass of alcohol.
- And eat before and when you drink, not on an empty stomach.

Wishing you, your family & friends a merry Christmas. :-)

Ever eaten that last slice of pizza, even though you’ve had enough? Or polished off kids’ leftovers, despite already feeling full? Here’s what’s happening and how to fix it.

Do you know stress can be positive and negative?
Do you know how you think (perceive) stress influenced its impact on you?
A few out-takes include:
- To manage the impact of negative stress, aim to disconnect from it (the experience of it).
- Try taking five slow breaths; breathe out slightly longer than in, to help de-escalate its impact.
- Remember, life ebbs and flows, we all face discomfort, & are moved out of our comfort zones at times.
- To learn new things, to get better at handling challenge, we need to take on a level of discomfort.
- The aim is to trade-off your knowledge/abilities with a reasonable level of challenge/discomfort.
- Normalise stress, accept it is part of life. Know can motivate & excite you, as well as have you feel uncomfortable.
My caveat; if you are overwhelmed, and not coping, please reach out for help.

New research finds that reappraising stress can help you use it as a tool to perform, rather than an obstacle keeping you from success.

“The ability to focus on the body and really relax the body turned out to be incredibly important in helping people adjust and deal with loss."
“Mindfulness is learning how to be with what is, without trying to change it, and bringing a compassionate, nonjudgmental stance to it."

Surprisingly, progressive muscle relaxation outperformed mindfulness as a grief coping tool in a recent study.
