The old me would have never filmed this without make up. Now, I just care about having fun and being present…not being locked up in my head stressing over whether people are judging my weight or appearance.

And strangely, I’ve never felt stronger.

We tend to believe that criticism is the only way to motivate ourselves into change.

What about a path of love and acceptance? I know it’s hard to believe. But the more that you can accept your flaws, bad behaviours, habits and imperfections, the less weight they hold over you and the more they dissipate.

Hopefully this gives you a nudge to start doing the work because accepting ourselves as we are, paradoxically leads us to what we want most.

Learning how to be IN MY BODY is what’s made the biggest difference in my overall wellbeing.

It started with yoga, learning how to slow down and be still.

But it really flourished with my therapist who would constantly say “Zoe slow down, are you able to notice what’s happening for you right now”…

Sometimes I’d reply, no!? And she would gently guide my awareness into my body and I’d start to notice how tense I was and how quickly I’d been talking.

Sometimes she would ask what emotion I was experiencing and I wouldn’t really know…I’d say “sad?” to which she would respond, what type of sad?

I had 0 idea that there was more than one type of sadness 🤯 (if you’re also shocked, google the Feelings Wheel)

Having somewhere there to slow me down and mirror what I was unaware of has given me so much access to my felt sense. And this was what was missing all along.

Avoiding feeling led me to dark places and very harmful behaviours.

Feeling isn’t easy, but not feeling is harder. Wouldn’t you agree?

Don’t live under the illusion that quitting your job will suddenly make you the happiest person in the world.

It might help, but contentment is something that is cultivated through dedicated practice and inner work.

When I became a full time yoga teacher, TBH I just found new things to complain and worry about…

If you’re struggling, start with the inner work and I promise the rest will follow…
