Menstrual migraine affects about 20–25% of female migraineurs in the general population, and 22–70% of patients presenting to headache clinics. In women diagnosed with menstrual migraine, perimenstrual migraine attacks are associated with substantially greater disability than their non-menstrual attacks.

Types of Menstrual Migraine:

1. Pure Menstrual Migraine:
Migraine headaches are strictly limited to the peri-menstrual time period and do not occur at other times of the month.

2. Menstrually Related Migraine:
Must have an onset during the peri-menstrual time period (two days before to three days after the onset of menstruation) but other attacks may occur at other times of the menstrual cycle.
