Well done Kathryn and your daughter - another example of Accelerated Recovery, please share with your contacts as we can help people worldwide! “My 10 year old daughter is a competitive ballroom, Latin and freestyle dancer. She competes to a national standard. Just 4 weeks prior to our season of nationals she sustained an injury at a competition that was confirmed at the hospital as a fractured 5th metatarsal. She was sent home in a boot and instructed to keep it on for 6 weeks before she could even walk without it. She was distraught thinking her nationals she had worked for all year were over. She cried herself to sleep. That same evening I spoke with Neil at Platinum whom I had known for many years due to him treating dance related injuries to pupils from my dance school over the years. The following evening my daughter commenced her physiotherapy sessions. Building strength around the injury. We followed all of the advice from Neil and his team. Lots of icing and physio exercises as many times a day as we could manage alongside physical sessions with members of Platinum. In 4 weeks my daughter competed at her first nationals of the season. She made all of her finals and even managed a win. 6 weeks post injury she competed in her second national which was an enormous competition requiring her to dance round after round after round. She again made the final and was pain free. 9 weeks post fracture she competed nationally in freestyle which is the most intense and heaviest on the feet. She competed pain free not only making a final but becoming national champion. I would say I was a little sceptical upon our commencement of this journey as we were literally doing the opposite of what the hospital advised. However due to my trust in Neil from previous experiences we decided to try it. Best decision I ever made! Trust the process, it really does work. My daughter now feels so strong again”
