🧠 Understanding IQ Testing 🧠

IQ tests measure a child’s cognitive abilities, including reasoning, problem-solving, memory, processing speed, and verbal & visual-spatial skills. They can help identify your child’s strengths, areas for support, giftedness, and even guide the assessment of learning difficulties, ADHD, or intellectual disabilities.

These tests are usually appropriate for children from age 4 and up, with different versions designed for preschoolers, school-aged children, and adolescents. Importantly, IQ scores are just one part of your child’s profile - creativity, emotional intelligence, motivation, and resilience all play a vital role in their growth and success.

Working with a psychologist ensures the results are interpreted accurately and used to support tailored learning strategies, early interventions, and your child’s overall development.

🧠 Your child’s mental health matters just as much as their physical health. 💙

Just like we take children to the doctor when they have a fever or broken bone, we should pay the same attention to their emotions, stress, and behaviour.

✅ Good mental health helps children build confidence, manage challenges, and develop healthy relationships.

⚠️ Ignoring signs of worry, sadness, or constant stress can affect their learning, socialisation, and overall development.

💡 What parents can do:

Listen without judgment

Encourage open conversations about feelings

Model healthy coping strategies

Seek professional help early if needed

Remember, strong bodies and strong minds go hand in hand. 🌱💪

When teens act angry, rude, or distant, it’s usually because they’re struggling to express feelings that feel too big or confusing. As a parent, your support is crucial - but how you respond matters a lot.

Do:
✔️ Stay calm and patient.
✔️ Listen without interrupting or judging.
✔️ Offer your presence quietly: sometimes just sitting together helps.
✔️ Validate their feelings, even if you don’t fully understand.
✔️ Encourage small steps toward sharing, but don’t force it.

Don’t:
❌ Take their anger personally.
❌ Push them to talk before they’re ready.
❌ Respond with anger or punishment.
❌ Ignore changes in behavior or withdraw yourself.

Your consistent, gentle support helps your teen feel safe enough to open up when they’re ready. Remember, their tough behavior is often a sign they need you more than ever.

In child counseling, creativity isn’t just a method—it’s a lifeline.

Many children struggle to express complex emotions with words alone. Through play, art, storytelling, and imaginative techniques, they find a safe outlet to explore their inner world.

Creative approaches help build trust, promote emotional regulation, and encourage healing in ways that traditional talk therapy often can’t. By meeting children in their natural language of imagination, we open the door to genuine connection and lasting growth. 🎨🌸💖

Children’s behaviour is more than just actions we see on the surface — it is a window into their inner world. When a child lashes out, withdraws, or struggles to follow expectations, it is rarely about defiance.

More often, it is their way of saying, ‘I need help, I feel overwhelmed, or I don’t yet have the skills to cope.’

As adults, our role is not to punish the behaviour but to pause, reflect, and ask: What is this child trying to tell me?

By responding with patience, empathy, and connection, we not only guide their behaviour but also nurture their trust, resilience, and emotional growth.

✨ “Ever been told your child will just grow out of it?”

The truth is, some challenges don’t simply disappear with time. Children often need guidance, encouragement, and the right tools to help them cope and thrive. 💙

Early support isn’t about labelling a child — it’s about giving them the best chance to grow into their full potential. 🌱

We are here to walk that journey with you and your child.
