Bannockburn Bush parkrun Event #384
Saturday 23rd of May 2026

This week 74 people enjoyed our parkrun course, 4 of which were first timers (Welcome!).

Despite a little more debris on the track than usual, 13 people (yes, a whopping 17% of you) got new Personal Bests. Congratulations to you all, well done for pushing yourselves and each other: Ross Arnall, Ollie O'Shannassy, Kyle Tomlinson, Finn Kombucha, Olivia Brandy, Meaghan Whelan, Lachlan Allaway, Phil Streeter, Megan Battersby, Millie Battersby, Maureen Fisher, Danielle Krivan and Anthony Allaway!

We had a lovely fresh bunch of vollies this week, and they did their job flawlessly. Thanks so much for your help Dave Grazules, Tracey and Jill Oakes, Tamara and Cheryl Sanders, Briar Morris, Ella Wesley, Darren and Charlie Johnstone, Michaela Gregory • Leanne Dalton and Lachlan Serle.

We also had Clancy Edwards reach his 25th run today, so well done Clancy. He has a PB of 28.17, has only started parkrunning last year, and has volunteered twice-all while being under 14 years of age. Congratulations!

We look forward to a boost in numbers next week, and wish all our local runners a great run tomorrow supporting Run the Gap. Have a great week!

Great day for a parkrun tomorrow! We might be a bit low in numbers due to those off to Run the Gap, but all the better for some first timers to step in! Come and join us, 7.50am briefing for an 8am start!

Bannockburn Bush parkrun
Event #383
Saturday 16th May

This week we had a smaller crew of 80 people joining us for a walk or jog around the beautiful bush. The weather was surprisingly mild, and 7 people took advantage to create a new PB for themselves. Congratulations to Ryan, Zach, Kyle, Fiona, Ollie, Anthony and Jan!
Welcome to our 4 visitors also, it was lovely to have you come and see us on your travels.

As always, our volunteers had a great time helping out, it's a real pleasure to chat to such a lovely group while we wait for the runners. Michelle and Shelley created entertainment as Marshals-this role has no limits to what antics might happen on the course! If you'd like to give it a go, message us, there's a spot open next week for Marshal that needs to be filled!
Thanks to Sandra, Megan, Millie, Tracey, Matt, Sara, Levi, Sara, Michelle and Shelley for putting aside your run for the week to keep our event running.

We seem to have hit peak season of milestones, well done to those reaching their goals!
Violet made her 10th run this week, having only started parkrun in December 2025, with a PB of 30:44 and Jackson stepped up for his 25th run (and finished second, close to his PB of 20:06).

We had two 250 milestones as well, and they deserved their run with the green capes.

Mel Whelan, who started parkrunning in 2018, but joined us at Bannockburn Bush in 2021, has completed 165 runs with us, and the rest at 16 other locations. Mel has volunteered 7 times, and her PB is a very respectable 28:24. You'll remember her for her words of encouragement out on course each week. Well done Mel!

Tess Buyel also competed her 250th run. Tess started parkrun with the original Bannockburn Bush parkrun team, running through the trials before this event was set up. A mere 12 when we started, Tess has managed to clock up 250 runs with a PB of 34:13, and an AMAZING 61 times volunteering. Tess is always willing to help out, and share a laugh, and is a great example of why we do this-a child that came along when younger, that is now an adult, still coming each week for her own enjoyment. Something to aspire to for those who are coming with hesitant kids!

Have a lovely week, we look forward to catching up with you all next week!

There once was a runner quite blue,
With the weekend still far out of view.
But they smiled with delight,
Once it was Wednesday night,
“Only half a week till parkrun!” they knew.

The great thing about modern alarms is that you can set them to go off in advance. Set it up now and your Saturday will be amazing! We're looking forward to seeing you there!
