01/01/2026
There were 124 keen participants who made it out of bed and into the bush for the first parkrun of 2026.
We were thrilled to welcome 29 first timers to Bannockburn Bush from far and wide, and a few who are making our event their annual New Year's Day tradition - we love that you chose our corner of the world to start your parkrunning year!
Many runners told us the conditions out in the bush were perfect for parkrunning - just a gentle breeze, not too hot. Great conditions for 15 personal best times - well done to Jackson, Carl, Chris, Bharathy, Chris, Corey, Alison, Archer, Leah, Camille, Elvis, Braden, Elsie, Eva and Thea.
We celebrated milestones for 2 visitors - congratulations on 100 runs Carl and Ken; and for one of our youngest regulars. Elliott has been completing parkruns since the first week he was officially allowed when he turned 4, and today at 5 years old he racked up his 50th parkrun. Amazing consistency on those little legs! Elliott has also helped his parents with volunteering 10 times. You're a champ, Elliott!
Also champs are the volunteers who have ticked the box for their first volunteer for 2026 - thanks Ella, May, Elijah, Cazz, Beck, Michael, Christine, Annette, Narelle and visiting volunteer David. If you didn't volunteer much in 2025 why not make 2026 your year to contribute to the parkrun community and pop your name down for a vacant position? All roles are easy and we'll step you through it.
Now wash your running gear and charge your watches ready to come back out in 2 days for our next Saturday event!
Happy 2026!
