Bannockburn bush parkrun Event #370
14/2/26- Valentine's day

This morning 90 keen participants took a chance on love, or at least a nice hour outside, to come and join us for parkrun. 11 new people chose us as their Valentine's date destination, welcome all!

We did have a small technical glitch, resulting in a few more people getting PB's-sorry about that! 16 people held on to their PB once the glitch was fixed, well done to Angus, Peter, Lily, Olivia, Sophie, Jade, Tyler, Peter, Jordan, Sumire, Katie, Jo, Amy, Sophie, Helene, and Amanda! Special mention to Michelle, one of the gorgeous Marshals in red, who provided some giggles on the course!

Our LOVEly helpers today were very much appreciated, thank you for giving up your time to keep our parkrun going: Sandra, Kelly, Kate, Tracey, Luke, Christine, Shelley, Emma, Beck,Tamara, Simon, Linda, Michelle, Cheryl and Caz. We had an issue out on track that required assistance, and we appreciate those that jumped in to help.

Just a reminder that crossing through the finish line twice creates errors in our timekeeping, we would really like it if you went around the bollards when coming through the finish line a second time (this is why your position can change after the event, it's because we have to delete numbers when a second crossing occurs).

Thanks for coming to join us today, good luck for those doing the Sunset Run at Portarlington tonight! See you next week ❤️❤️❤️

Sorry all, in an attempt to make your Valentine's day special, we may have tried to cut your parkrun time back a little. This has now been fixed. Please reach out if you have a watch time drastically different from the current results. Your position compared to your token may have changed, but this often happens as a result of extra taps picked up along the way, and is a common occurrence ❤️

For some, Saturday is Valentine's Day. Others perhaps are celebrating Galentine's day, or maybe you've created some kind of lovely male ritual for the day. Maybe you don't celebrate the 14th of Febrauay at all?
Well, great news. It's parkrun day! This overrides all other celebrations, but it also happens at 8am in the morning, so you're free to do whatever you'd like for the rest of day! Bring your sweetheart or maybe just your sweatshirt, see you Saturday! ❤️❤️❤️

Bannockburn Bush parkrun – Event #369 Run Report

Event #369 at Bannockburn Bush parkrun delivered everything we’ve come to love about our little corner of the bush: friendly faces, barking dogs although we must say Saturday’s dogs listened to the Run Director and kept their excitement under wraps until lined up on the start line, and that unbeatable parkrun buzz.

We welcomed 100 runners, joggers, walkers, and first-timers to our event. Conditions were kind although the track was its usual dusty, pot holey, I’m going to dirty your clean shoes kind of track. The incline in the first kilometer quickly spread out the runners, and by the marshal, most had found their pace.

Out on the course, there was plenty of encouragement between participants, waves, well done and the odd “high five. Smiles were plentiful – especially over the last 1km where gravity becomes your best friend helping to create those PB’s. Congratulations to the 11 people achieving this on Saturday. As usual the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming as always. Everyone contributed to the friendly, inclusive vibe that Bannockburn Bush is known for.

A huge thank you goes to our amazing 12 volunteers, who made event #369 possible. From timekeepers and barcode scanners to marshals, your enthusiasm and dedication never go unnoticed. Thankyou Megan BATTERSBY, Millie BATTERSBY, Linda BURNETT, Julie BUYEL, Sara DIXON, Michelle EARL, Shelley GUGGER, Emma HEENAN, Owen MCNICOL, Polly MUSGROVE, Levi STAPLETON, Ollie STAPLETON Bannockburn Bush parkrun simply wouldn’t happen without you.

It was also great to see a mix of familiar faces and 13 newcomers joining us this week. If you’re new to parkrun or visited from out of town, we hope you felt right at home and will come back again soon.

Congratulations to Sophie Grace on completing her milestone 25th parkrun. Sophie chose to walk under the radar on Saturday and not make a fuss about her achievement. But we couldn’t let it go unnoticed.

As always, the post-parkrun catch-up and coffee was a great finish to a great morning—proof that parkrun isn’t just about the run, but about community.

Thanks to everyone who took part in event #369. We look forward to seeing you all back at the start line next Saturday for another run through the bush.

Don’t forget: if you haven’t volunteered yet, give it a go—it’s just as rewarding as running!

See you all running and walking in the bush next week.

Thought of volunteering but not sure then this role could be an easy introduction to volunteering.

It was great to be back to our run today after our closure last week.
Unfortunately, there are technical issues with parkrun websites so we’re unable to give detailed numbers and stats. But we don’t always need those anyway.
We had a large number of first timers from locals to tourists from afar. Thank you for joining us today.
There were also a couple of pb’s. Well done to young Colin for achieving that today.
We also celebrated some 25 run milestones. Well done to Pauline and Hunter.
The weather was a little humid but everyone still looked to have enjoyed their bit of physical activity.
As always, a huge shout out to our wonderful volunteers today.
Sara Dixon, Annie Wild, Tamara Sanders, Cheryl Sanders, Peter Sanders, Christine Blackley, Nat Biscan, Carolyn Punton, Ezra Punton, Ellie Oakes, Mark Grace & Paul Ashley.
As you can see from the photos, we like to look after our finish line vollies while waiting for the first of the runners to finish.
We look forward to seeing you again next week.
