Some of the places we call home are truly breathtaking like beautiful Caves Beach, home to our Mawson Court Retirement Village and Residential Care.

Today on World Habitat Day, we celebrate all of the places people, animals and plants call home. By caring for our land, water and air, we help create a safer, healthier world for everyone.

💬 What’s your favourite part of where you call home?

Today, we proudly celebrate the United Nations International Day of Older Persons! Shining a light on the aspirations, wellbeing, and rights of older people, recognising their vital contributions to our communities.

Creating environments that empower older persons to thrive is essential. Our retirement communities are a powerful example of places where individuals can find connection, pursue new goals, and maintain independence at every stage of life.

Pictured here is our recently opened Community Centre at Cardinal Gilroy Village, Merrylands. These spaces foster belonging, purpose, and joy, supporting older people to live life their way.

The 2025 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) Assembly is underway this week in Wonnarua Country. The Assembly is the only national event led by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics.

As an Ochre Sponsor, we are committed to reconciliation, cultural partnership, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the journey of healing and hope.

Our CEO Monique Reynolds shares “Supporting the NATSICC Assembly is a meaningful expression of our commitment to reconciliation and shared healing. It’s about listening deeply, honouring culture, and co-creating pathways that enables older people to live life to the full.

As a not-for-profit organisation who has been providing aged care services for over 50 years, the partnership with NATSICC supports our commitment to Reconciliation and Laudato Si, building authentic relationships and fostering meaningful, lasting change in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This partnership reflects our commitment to fostering inclusive communities where every person is valued, every story is honoured, and every action builds a more just and compassionate society.”

Congratulations to Reginald (Regi) Torres, Registered Nurse at our Campbell, ACT, home, for winning the 2025 Outstanding Nurse Preceptor Award!

Only 20 nurses across Australia received this honour, which celebrates the incredible impact of mentors in aged care. Regi was nominated by a student who said his support changed their view of aged care and inspired their future career.

Area Manager ACT and Southern NSW, Samantha Tosh, said she couldn’t be prouder of Regi being recognised as an outstanding preceptor.

“Regi is showing the next generation of Registered Nurses how rewarding a career in aged care can be.”

Our home in Corowa recently had a visit from some very furry friends!
The visitors were warmly welcomed by the community with open arms. A moment of nostalgia for those with farming backgrounds, too.

Besides being adorable, the animal visitors also bring with them stress-lowering, social, and physical activity benefits. This is just one example of how our teams create special experiences for residents, giving them the opportunity to explore their interests and do what they enjoy every day.

Captured here is a moment between music therapy student Luke and resident Lloyd on a recent bus trip.

For music therapy student Luke, music is about transformation. He’s seen first-hand how music is a powerful medium for connection while also supporting cognitive, emotional, communicative, and motor well-being.

With Open Eye Signal by Jon Hopkins as a personal favourite song, Luke brings his energy and creativity to each session. The residents’ enthusiasm for music has been deeply encouraging, providing a safe space to reminisce, learn something new, and celebrate together.

With an estimated 433,300 Australians living with dementia and 1.7 million people involved in their care, chances are you know someone who is impacted by dementia.

Dementia doesn’t just impact the person living with the condition and their immediate carers; it also impacts their friends, family and wider social network.
This Dementia Action Week we challenge everyone in the community to reach out and reconnect to someone impacted by dementia because nobody can do it alone.
Get involved and access resources from Dementia Australia to start the conversation today: https://www.dementia.org.au/get-involved/dementia-action-week

The joy, nostalgia, and stories shared around these timeless classics made for a truly special celebration.

Today is R U OK? Day. An important reminder to stay connected and make asking ‘are you OK?’ part of your everyday.
We want everyone in our community, from our team, delivering care each day, to those who interact and enrich our communities across NSW & ACT, to feel they can talk about how they’re really feeling and access support if they need it.

Remember, you don’t need to be an expert to have an R U OK? conversation.
Listening and giving someone your time might be just what someone needs to help them through and take the first step in seeking support.

R U OK? have developed resources that provide simple tips to help you
download them from ruok.org.au. If you, or someone you know, needs immediate support, Lifeline are available 24/7 on 13 11 14 and other services can be found at ruok.org.au/findhelp

Father's Day is a special moment to pause and reflect on the incredible impact of fathers and father figures in our community. We also acknowledge those who find today challenging.

We invite you to share your favourite memories and thanks below 💬

We’ve heard many incredible stories across our communities and teams in the lead up to todays celebrations. One of those is Michael from our Tweed Heads home. With five children, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild, his family can’t praise him enough for the enormous impact he has had on their lives.

“Pa has always been so generous and caring to us, my favourite memory is driving around in his limo thinking we were superstars and hearing all the stories from him!” - Granddaughter Tia

“From lining up five pairs of polished school shoes before sunrise to handing the garbage man a Christmas gift at 4am, Dad’s life has been a vibrant story of generosity, resilience, and unconditional love, a true giver whose quiet acts of kindness and bold spirit have shaped every memory and taught us the pure art of giving unconditionally.” - Daughter Claire

“My life has turned out the way it has because of the person you let me and taught me to be. When I speak with anyone about my parents, I do so with glowing pride. You’re my best man and best mate and thanks for being the best Dad.” - Son Mark

Retirement is an exciting time, but it’s also one of the biggest changes in a lifetime.

As we approach R U OK? Day, it’s an important time to be reminded that staying connected matters, especially when life changes. Read Geoff’s story below about how a weekly boxing group has become a vital time for connection, conversation, and support: https://www.ruok.org.au/chit-chat-lh-geoff
