You’re a grace grower 🌱

Sometimes the rejection we face as q***r people, as people with disabilities, is really someone else’s unhealed story being projected onto us.

We believe that bitterness and shame don’t build belonging. Healing and forgiveness do. By living authentically, you’re planting seeds of grace that help communities grow.

A throwback to when Traidy shared this on the Able+ Podcast; a reminder to be a grace grower.

Who has been a grace grower in your life? 💬

How can technology bring belonging back into disability support?

For many people in the NDIS, support can feel like endless forms, repeated stories, and systems that don’t always see the whole person.

That’s why we’re proud to be working alongside My Solas, a platform designed to make the NDIS simpler and more human. With tools like Plan Navigator, Request for Service, and Secure Messaging, it helps participants, coordinators, and providers focus less on admin and more on connection.

This isn’t just about efficiency. It’s about belonging.
✔️ Participants can feel recognised for their goals and identity.
✔️ Coordinators can build trust without losing time in paperwork.
✔️ Providers can collaborate with clarity and care.

As our Executive Director, Traidy Bugeja-Naidoo, steps into his role as NSW Brand Advocate for My Solas, we see this partnership as more than strategic. It’s personal, rooted in values of inclusion, person-centred care, and community.

Because when systems are built with belonging in mind, everyone wins.

Flexibility isn’t about ticking boxes.

It’s about saying yes to the dance class, the last-minute catch-up, or the quiet night in when you need it most. Life changes, and your support should keep up.

Imagine what flexibility could open up for you.

Supporting goals effectively is about more than services. It’s about recognising humanity, stories, and belonging.

We use a framework called Ubuntu, which is a South African philosophy, meaning “I am because you are.” It’s the belief that when we nurture one another, everyone grows stronger.

For people navigating life at the intersections of disability, q***rness, culture, and identity, Ubuntu is a reminder that wellbeing is never separate. Every step forward ripples outward, strengthening community.

Your goals, your dreams, and your joy matter. When one person thrives, we all thrive.

How do you see interconnectedness showing up in your own life?

Last Friday we joined the Wear It Purple Day event hosted by Blacktown Area Community Centres Inc. - BACC, celebrating visibility, safety, and pride for LGBTQIA+ young people in our community.

We were proud to partner with incredible organisations, including Legal Aid NSW , headspace Mt Druitt , WASH House , Youth NSW Health, and Playgroup NSW , to support our local LGBTQIA+ community.

Thank you Blacktown Area Community Centres for creating a space where young people could share their talents, connect with community, and feel a true sense of belonging.

Today is Wear It Purple Day, a day of visibility and support for LGBTQIA+ young people 🌈

We asked our team what this day means to them. Jamie shared:
“When I was younger, I didn’t always feel safe to show up as myself. Wear It Purple reminds me of the importance of young people today knowing they don’t have to hide who they are. Visibility matters, it tells us we’re not alone, and that we belong.”

Wearing purple is a symbol, but what really matters is the message: you are valued, you are loved, and you belong.

✨ Staff Recognition – August ✨

For two years, Sheree has been a perfect match for David.

With no family here in Australia, David relies on close friends and support workers. Sheree has made sure he never feels alone, not only through her care and professionalism, but also by helping him stay connected with loved ones back in South Africa.

When friends can’t be there, they know he’s safe with her. She goes above and beyond, bringing both warmth and reliability that make all the difference.

Gratitude doesn’t begin to cover it. Support workers like Sheree change lives every day.

Happy International Dog Day from our official office managers!

Meet the real bosses of Chosen Family’s workspace, Ziggy and Marley, our two furry leaders who make sure everything runs smoothly with plenty of tail wags and belly rubs. Their management style? Lots of cuddles, occasional zoomies, and expert stress relief on demand.

Here’s to the paws that keep us going and remind us that sometimes, the best support comes with four legs and a wagging tail.

Some days are just about this moment: laughter, high-fives, and feeling like you truly belong.

Support isn’t just ticking boxes; it’s having someone there who sees you, celebrates your choices, and makes space for the things that bring you joy. Whether it’s trying a new game, sharing a laugh, or just being fully yourself, these are the experiences that matter.

What’s a small moment this week that made you feel seen or celebrated? Share it below, we’d love to hear your wins.

Plot twist: Your story has endless possibilities. Play with it, shape it, and make it beautifully unique.

The NDIS can be overwhelming, with endless forms, confusing rules, and constant follow-ups. For Sharmaine, it was exhausting.

‘I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. She’s just saved my life because there’s so much work in negotiating the NDIS and the roles… she’s been incredible. I’m so glad we came over.’

Everyone deserves support that makes life feel lighter, not heavier. Support that meets you where you are, listens without judgment, and makes space for your way of doing things.

The recent NDIS funding changes are already shaping the way we work alongside participants.

In our latest blog, 'Navigating NDIS Updates with Community and Care,' we share insights from The Unexpected Journey podcast/RPP FM 98.7 with Julie, Amber, and Tina, discussing what these updates mean in practice and how we can work together to help participants advocate for the support they need.

It’s a valuable resource for anyone in the sector seeking to stay informed and aligned.
