EnAccess Maps: An app developed by University of Melbourne students making dining out a smooth experience for people living with a disability. It was founded in 2021 by Uni of Melbourne student Sabrina Leung and it aims to connect people with accessible restaurants and other venues. When you open the app, you can specify your venue (e.g. restaurant, library, etc.), the location and accessibility requirements. The app then provides a list of venues near you that match these preferences. The app provides a variety of different filters so you can tailor your accessibility preferences to you, for example, bathroom availability, movement space, step-free access and parking. The team works alongside different disability service providers Australia-wide who assist with data collection. EnAccess is a free service available to all and is currently focused on the Melbourne area, but the team hope to expand globally one day, with University of Melbourne student volunteers going out each month to vet venues. They currently have 700 venues logged and will continue to expand.

It's National Diabetes Week!

National Diabetes Week was established in 2015 by Diabetes Australia and is observed annually. This year, the week has a distinct focus on prevention, as this is a crucial element at any stage of one's journey and has the ability to change lives. The aim for National Diabetes Week is to always create 'a healthier future - for everyone'.

The Diabetes Australia website provides a variety of resources with helpful information for those living with diabetes and more information about this week!

Meet Bella Ramsey, the 21-year-old actor now taking the world by storm. Most recently, they have starred in The Last of Us as 'Ellie' alongside Pedro Pascal. However, they are also known for their role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, a role they began at just 11-years-old. Bella also has autism and has been greatly open about their autism diagnosis. They described their diagnosis as "freeing" and allowed them to "walk through the world with more grace towards [themself]". As well as this, Bella's feels that their diagnosis has really played a part in shaping their self-confidence and acting too. The second season of The Last of Us is now available to watch on HBO Max!

The three main areas that were discussed include key sensory theories, assessment/screening tools used by OTs to identify sensory challenge areas and, sensory interventions once issues are identified.

This week is NAIDOC Week!

NAIDOC Week is celebrated every year during the first week of July and it looks to celebrate the culture, achievements and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and also provides all Australians the opportunity to learn more about First Nations cultures. This year is particularly special as it marks 50 years of NAIDOC!

The theme for this year is 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy'. After already holding a 50-year legacy of NAIDOC, the 2025 theme looks to acknowledge and celebrate not only the accomplishments of the past, but also the promising future ahead—driven by the strength of our young leaders, communities, and the enduring legacy of our ancestors.

During the month of June, there have been some major changes to pricing within the NDIS, effecting a variety of service providers. These changes took effect on the 1st of July 2025.

Some of the changes include:
- reducing price limits for some therapy supports
- cuts made to physio (a $10 reduction), podiatry and dietetics (a $5 reduction)
- occupational therapy pricing seeing no increase for the seventh year in a row
- removing the higher price loading in WA, SA, Tas and NT for physiotherapy and psychology
- removal of price loadings in some rural areas
- travel cost reimbursements cut by 50% of the hourly rate
- ceasing plan management set-up fees and remote loadings.

These changes, specifically changes in travel reimbursement, will have a major impact on rural families and clients. Many may have to turn to telehealth for consultations.

Today is World Blood Donor Day! This day celebrates the many voluntary blood donors across the world who make a major difference in many people's lives.

The objectives of this year's campaign include:
- Raising awareness for the urgent call for blood and plasma donations,
- Encouraging regular donations,
- Recognising the positive impact blood donors have on others, and
- Call on governments to invest in ways to achieve universal access to safe blood transfusion globally.

'Give blood, give hope: together we save lives'.

Meet Adam Pearson, an award-winning actor who has most recently appeared in the film 'A Different Man', alongside Sebastian Stan. He has also been a fantastic documentary presenter in the past and was nominated as UK Documentary Presenter of the Year at the Grierson Awards in 2016. Pearson was born with a genetic condition called neurofibromatosis type 1, that causes a spread of benign facial tumours. His breakout role was in the film 'Under the Skin' in 2013 alongside Scarlett Johansson, where he was chosen for his role with no acting experience. Now, with a variety of films and documentaries under his belt, Pearson is about to star as the lead in the new film adaptation of 'The Elephant Man' and is continuing to be a shining star of representation on-screen.
