Ever heard that raising a child with autism can be as stressful as being in combat?

A study found that parents, especially mothers, of autistic children can experience stress levels similar to those seen in combat soldiers, Holocaust survivors, and individuals with PTSD.

Not because the experiences are the same, but because long-term emotional strain leaves similar marks on the body.

Their nervous systems are constantly in fight-or-flight mode; worn down by the daily reality of meltdowns, therapies, judgment, and isolation.

So, Nightfam, if you know a parent on this journey, offer grace not advice. They’re not just parenting. They are surviving.

Qualifications Required:
- First aid
- Experience working with people with a disability
- police clearance
- Confidentiality
- Suitable for accompanying to appointments/activities
- Own ABN, insurance
- NDIS Worker Orientation
- Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Certificate III or Diploma in Disability services
- National NDIS Worker Screening Check ID
Approximately 15-20 hours per week is available to start with possible increase and respite opportunities.
Pay rate, support shift times & days to be negotiated with the right candidate.

(H) Explores Independent Play and Problem Solving

Today we saw (H's) determination to retrieve the ball and resume play demonstrating an emerging capacity for problem-solving, as he shows increasing confidence and involvement in learning. His preference for independent play highlights his growing autonomy and decision-making skills, and focuses on the development of a strong sense of identity. Although he showed varying levels of success with the pom poms, this demonstrates a willingness to engage with new challenges, indicative of developing perseverance and experimentation abilities.
