Exciting Day at the Source Kids Disability Expo Sydney ICC Sydney Theatre @ 18th & 19th July.

Today, Hands For Community had the wonderful opportunity to participate in an Expo, and it was a truly rewarding experience. 🌟

We connected with a wide range of people- from participants and families to fellow providers and professionals in the disability support space. The expo gave us a fantastic platform to showcase our services, including:

✅ Short Term and Medium Term Accommodation
✅ Supported Independent Living (SIL)
✅ In-home care with multilingual support workers
✅ Registered Nurses
✅ Community participation programs
✅ Assistance with daily tasks and more

We had meaningful conversations, built new relationships, and strengthened our network within the community. It was inspiring to see how many people are passionate about creating a more inclusive, supportive environment for NDIS participants.

We’re grateful for everyone who visited our booth and showed interest in what we do. 🙏

💬 “They’re Not Just Support Workers -They’re Family.”
I once heard someone say this, and I couldn’t agree more:
“NDIS providers aren’t just offering services—they’re giving us a second family.”
Let me tell you a story that truly touched my heart.
There’s a participant named Sameera, a gentle soul in her 40s living with a psychosocial disability. For a long time, Sameera lived in silence- alone, isolated, and forgotten by a world that didn’t understand her pace.
Then she was introduced to the support team from Hands For Community.
At first, Sameera kept her distance. She didn’t expect much—she had been let down before. But day by day, her support worker Neha showed up. Not just to follow a care plan, but to build trust, offer kindness, and create connection.
Neha would sit beside her, listen without judgment, remember her favorite music, and even cook her mum’s traditional recipes just to see her smile.
One cold, rainy evening, Sameera became unwell. With no family nearby, it was Neha who stayed by her side the whole night—not because it was in the roster, but because it came from the heart.
Neha quietly said,
“If this were my own sister, I’d want someone to be there for her too.”
In that quiet moment, Sameera whispered something that no one expected:
“You’re not just my support worker… you’re my family.”
That sentence said it all.
To all the NDIS providers and carers who bring heart into their work every day:
