Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

On the axis of astrological Samhain/Imbolc, the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio brings a time of heightened intuition, deep reflection, and potent transformation. This eclipse carries an intense energy of death and rebirth, offering an opportunity to shed what no longer serves us and welcome new beginnings.

The retrograde Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, in Aquarius adds to the transformative energy of this eclipse, highlighting themes of huge generational shifts and transformations, and the need to embrace our soul paths and higher selves.

Mercury retrograde in Ta**us encourages us to look inward and reassess our values, while the Sun in Ta**us conjunct Uranus offers a sense of excitement and unpredictability to this transformative energy. The ego’s agenda really doesn’t belong here as the Universe has greater plans.

The Eclipse season leading up to this event has been building gradually, and this event is particularly potent, playing a significant role in preparing us for Pluto's upcoming stay in Aquarius for the next two decades. This rare event is the second New Moon in Aries this year, offering another fresh start and an opportunity to reflect on commitments and areas where we want or need to take action.

Eclipse energy can be intense and unpredictable, so it is important to approach this time with caution and engage consciously with this portal of accelerated change.

The opposition aspect to the South Node in Scorpio and the square to Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, in Aquarius indicate that death and rebirth, endings and beginnings, will be a significant feature of this Eclipse season. The paired Lunar Eclipse in this cycle is in Scorpio, further emphasising themes of transformation and letting go.

The Solar Eclipse offers a deeper and more long-lasting portal than a regular New Moon, so take time to reflect on your intentions made during the last New Moon as this is a second chance to reprioritise. We can reflect on our commitments and intentions from the last lunar cycle and make any necessary adjustments.

Welcome to the Full Moon in Libra, loves. 🌕

A Libra Full Moon is a time for balancing the needs of self and others.

This is a powerful one, with a stellium of Jupiter, Sun, and Chiron in opposition to the Moon.

The conjunction of Jupiter and Chiron offers an opportunity for expansion and healing, particularly around relational wounds that we carry.

The Moon is reflecting important information back to us, offering an opportunity to look within and take responsibility for our part in any relationships that are not working as harmoniously as we would like them to.

As we take stock of our relationships during this Full Moon, we can use these energies to bring more balance and healing to our lives by reflection on which areas need more attention from us - whether this be giving ourselves more time for self care or being more mindful when engaging with those around us.

I’m deep underwater at the moment, loves.

I wonder if Saturn’s transit though Pisces in my second house isn’t going to be more of a crucible than its transit through my first in Aquarius, where my Sun and Mercury also reside.

With Pluto entering Aquarius tomorrow for the precursor to a two decade transit, I’m feeling pulled under, awash in the dark waters. My mood is heavy, dark, and teary.

The pressure builds and I want to gasp for air, but I’m in too deep. I have no choice but to surrender. To return to the freeing and fundamental truth, that I am powerless.

“What’s that?”, I hear you wonder!

With so much discourse about empowerment and creating our own realities it can be easy to conflate control with enlightenment. But in acknowledging my powerlessness, I am free to focus on what I can control, and to deepen into trust and faith.

It’s here in the murky depths that I remember. And I surrender. To God, Spirit, Mother Earth, the Universe, Dagda, whatever you want to call that which is entirely greater than me.

In these depths I will choose surrender rather than struggle. I will find stillness and peace, so that I can listen to the lessons of the dark.

This is an incredibly potent window of time astrologically, but for now let’s explore the energies of the New Moon.

March 22 ushers in a fresh start with the beginning of a new Zodiac cycle, and with it another opportunity to sow seeds of intention - and action - for our future.

This New Moon in Aires is supercharged with momentum with the sign still hosting Jupiter, and its ruler Mars squared in Gemini.

We may be tempted to move too fast or jump into something without being fully grounded, so heed caution if you find yourself noticing this pattern arising.

To support in this area, Mars is calling on Saturn for some more considered thoughts and plans to assist us with all this fiery energy in motion.

This is also a time with the forming intense connections with Mercury and Gemini’s energies, which are quick moving, socially adept, and highly intellectual.

Enjoy the extra zip, but don’t catch fire!

When I talk about my life story, folks are always blown away by the extent and variety of my experiences.

This is just a tiny glimpse into my background and some of what informs how I practice and teach astrology, as well as how I support individuals and communities to connect and grow in conscious, intentional ways.

Astrology is both a science and a mystical art form. There’s brilliant, specific, mathematical calculation and patterns, and there’s also something almost outside of language and measurement.

It’s the less definable mystic energies that we’ll be delving into in Astrological Odyssey. It’s a journey into the unknown, where you might just find long lost parts of yourself.

I’m not mincing words on this one.

While some folks gain comfort from the concept of a soul contract - the notion that their higher self chose to experience certain events and relationships as part of this journey - it is NEVER up to a coach or spiritual mentor to decide this for a victim!

I see patterns of wounding and opportunities for soul growth reflected in people’s astrology charts every week. That in no way means that these individuals are doomed to lives of pain, abandonment, abuse, scarcity. It also in no way means that they are responsible for all of these challenging or traumatic experiences in their lives!

From a trauma informed perspective it actually makes sense that we can often tend to end up in situations that recreate traumatic experiences, such a relationships with people who abuse us. Our nervous system’s propensity to seek out the familiar does not make the harmful actions of another person our fault.

While we are responsible for taking care of ourselves as adults, we also require support and knowledge in order to grow. Maya Angelou reminded us that when we know better, we do better. I would add that when we know better and have enough support in the field, we can truly heal and live our best lives.

Instead of blaming victims, how about we dig deep and actually allow ourselves to feel with them and support them, rather than adding shame to the pile.

Illuminated this month are areas in our lives that require more attention to detail. Perhaps some of the seeds that were planted during the New Moon require clarification or some order to facilitate continued growth.

This energy provides a great opportunity for organisation, for being realistic about goals, and finding harmony between body, mind, and spirit.

The trine aspect been the Moon in Virgo and Uranus in Ta**us invites us to blend systems with innovation. Our planning structures don’t have to bore us!

Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, is currently in Pisces - the sign that the New Moon began this lunar cycle in - reminding us that our dreams and visions can become a reality if we remain devoted to them.

Virgo Full Moon is a particularly potent time for devotional practices.

Look, I love some nuance, and I’m not a fan of censorship.🚫

I can see how this language has had a place and may continue to have a place in supporting some people in their journey.

This is an invitation for more, not less.

Take this as a genuine invitation to consider expanding your concept of and relationship to the energies of the earth and the universe as they play out in your life and body.

Further than that, take this as an invitation to consider how our language shapes our sense of self as individuals and communities, and who we may be excluding through that language, including parts of ourselves.

I’m sure some of you will notice that I’ve erred on the side of being somewhat reductive.
It’s intentional.
Binary concepts are inherently reductive. I’ve just condensed that for short form media. 😉

The Moon has moved into Cancer this afternoon. 🌙

Did anyone else feel the shift?

I certainly did! That bubbly, social energy I was feeling yesterday has shifted and I’ve curled up on my bed, resting, and listening to music with tears behind my eyes.

It never ceases to amaze me how many times I’ll notice an energetic shift in myself, only to realise that it’s directly connected to a transit.

Of course, there are so many cycles at play, overlapping each other, creating tension and invitations to connect even deeper with our own internal rhythm.

The more awareness I have about the natural cycles at play outside of my body, the more I’m able to sit in dialogue with these energies, as a member of the greater cosmos, and ask myself: what do I need in this moment?

Ok loves, back to some semi regular programming. 😅

Although, let’s be honest, there’s not a whole lot of that here according to all of the conventional wisdom about consistency in marketing, etc.

A big reason for that is that I both choose to, and increasingly find I NEED to, live cyclically and flow with the energies of my body and the cosmos.

I know that many of you are familiar with ideas of cyclical living, either in line with menstrual, lunar, or seasonal cycles, but did you know that there are even more frequent energetic changes occurring and impacting us both as individuals and as a collective?!

Every 2-3 days the moon moves through a different sign of the zodiac, and in doing so she interacts with the energies of that sign and any other planets aspecting her.

Likewise each month we’ll often here that we’ve entered “Pisces season”, or “Aries season”, etc., as the sun moves through the signs over the year.

But what does all this really mean? How can you tune into these energetic changes and use them to support you in living a more attuned life?

Let’s talk about Pride. 🌈

This is a little photo glimpse into my weekend and, by extension, a part of my world as a q***r and quirky witch.

Every time I come here I’m struck by the sheer volume of authenticity, bravery, vulnerability, love, acceptance, and joy that surrounds me. I’m also reminded of the effort it has taken to get to this point, the hardships that have been and continue to be faced, and how critical it is that we continue to show up and demand safety, acceptance, respect, equality.

Mardi Gras, World Pride - they’re big celebratory parties, yes; but they’re also revolutionary acts of protest, and that is their origin story, their heritage.

And there’s something else in all of this that every one of us could benefit from.

✨PRIDE is the antithesis to SHAME✨

Shame can’t survive where there’s self acceptance, self compassion, and space to speak about our experience and be held and heard. Shame thrives in isolation, in the dark and quiet corners of our minds.

Over the past year I’ve deepened my skills as a facilitator of circles, and I know the magick of circle as shaman. I also know that these spaces, usually called women’s circles, can be full of binary gendered language and heteronormative assumptions.

This year I want to lean into more explicitly q***ring the spaces that I hold. Queering is not simply a provision of inclusivity and safety for those who identify with the LGBTIQA+ community, it’s also an invitation into deeper exploration and freedom for everyone.

When we lean into this exploration and show up in circle, we are supported to uncover the layers of ourselves that may have been hidden away in shame, and to connect with and reclaim these parts. We learn how to love and accept our authentic selves and others. We learn to be fully present, integrated individuals who know what it feels like to be safe and held, as well as how to hold others.

I want all folks to know and feel PRIDE!

Welcome to the mystical waters of Pisces New Moon. ♓️🌙

Now is a tender time of dreams and imaginings. A great time to begin a project that calls you into the watery places where not all is as it seems.

Lean into this magickal moment. Allow yourself time to be lost in your daydreams. There are precious gifts hidden in these places for those who are willing to forego the constant grind.

However, there’s a time and a place for dreaming, and a need to balance water and fire.

Venus, is at 29 degrees of Pisces, moving into Aries. The energies are preparing us to get out head out of the clouds when it comes to love and romance, and get ready to take some action as Venus progresses over this cycle.

For now though, enjoy Neptune’s blessings in his home sign, and dream far and wide with your intentions for this cycle.

It’s funny you know.

I’ve known so many people who experience something like this as genuinely day ruining.

Heck, I’ve been that person too!

And the difference between folk like past me and present me isn’t mystical enlightenment and high spiritual vibrations.

The difference is safety, support, a regulated nervous system, and a whole lot of dedicated work.

The difference is also a lot of peace. And since current me does experience that sense of calm, it’s really the last I can do to extend some compassion to fellow humans who don’t seem to have access to the same level of chill.

My dream is for everyone to have access to the safety, security, and support required to heal and do the work.

Namastè baes (said ironically) 😅

This Full Moon in Leo brings an incredibly creative and inventive energy, with a strong emphasis on being true to ourselves.

At this time, Uranus is square the Full moon. This can bring a sense of tension as it asks us to take pride in our individualism and dare to express ourselves openly.

With both Jupiter and Mars bringing easeful aspects, this is an exciting time full of opportunity. We should take advantage of this generous energy by letting go of any inhibitions or fears that hold us back for full authentic expression.

Get out of your comfort zone, connect with your inner child and let them out to explore. Play, have fun, and let your creative juices flow.
