tips 🏊‍♂️ CPR signs.

Did you know that displaying a compliant CPR sign is part of the pool safety standard?

You must display a CPR sign that:

➡️ shows how to perform CPR
➡️ is attached to the pool safety fence, or displayed near the pool
➡️ is easily visible to a person near the pool
➡️ is at least 300mm by 300mm
➡️ is made of durable and weatherproof material
➡️ includes a statement explaining how to act in an emergency (e.g. call 000, stay with the injured person, provide first aid)
➡️ complies with the Australian Resuscitation Council's resuscitation guidelines.

tips 🏊‍♀️ Gates, latches and hinges.

𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀

Pool gates must:

✅ not open towards the pool
✅ be self-closing
✅ self-latch from any open position.

𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀

Pool gate latches on the outside must be:

✅ at least 1500mm from the ground
✅ 1400mm above the top of the highest lower horizontal member.

Pool gate latches on the inside must:

✅ require you to reach up and over at a height of 1200mm at least and then down at least 150mm on the inside of the fence
✅ be covered with a 450mm-radius shield

𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀

Pool hinges must:

✅ be at least 900mm apart
✅ have a 60-degree safety cap added to the lower hinge if they are closer than 900mm apart.

And remember always to keep the pool gate shut – it’s an easy thing to do to keep your kids safe.

💧 Oiling the gate hinges
💧 Removing surrounding garden beds from the fence
💧 Securing all moveable objects near the pool
💧 Shielding any climbable objects with nonclimbable material.

🏊🏽 Tips to make your pool safe and compliant

Fixed, climbable objects can give a child access to a pool area. For example:

- Taps or light fittings on nearby walls
- Branches of nearby trees or shrubs which are below the height of the pool barrier
- Other climbable objects such as bracing on a deck near the pool area.

IN QLD please know the difference between the pools you can purchase.

SUPERVISION IS PRIORITY, FENCE THE POOLS and DONT Fill them until a fence is installed and certified.
