Becoming a doula has offered me an insight from a fathers view. To watch a woman bring a baby into the world is truly incredible. To see the way a man loves the mother of his child in that process, as he become a father, is a privilege I will never take for granted.
The last couple of years I have pondered many long hours on the men in my life, the ones that have made the greatest impacts.
All the micro-moments with them that have shaped the way I raise my sons and the values I ask my daughter to hold on to tightly.
There is lots of talk about it being a mans world, but its not automatically easy to be a man. The expectations are high but are not always explained or taught or understood.
So cheers to every Dad that has dug deep for his family, that turned up when he didn’t know quite what to do next. Cheers to the ones who had it come naturally, the instant ones and the worked on it ones.
Cheers to the bold one, the proud one, the strong, the quiet, the calm or the loud one, the clunky, the trying, the mean well, the tough and the fun one. Cheers to the Dads for loving in all the ways you know how.
Happy Fathers day.💛
