Meet Jess & Julie: partners in adventure and makers of weekly memories.
This week they made a new friend (hi, Big Gorilla 🦍) at Corrigans Reserve, soaked up the Batemans Bay sunshine, and capped off the day with lunch and Jess’s favourite cocktail.
Their bond has grown beautifully this year, filled with laughter, bold moments, and mutual joy.

Azuraa began with a simple but powerful belief:
That people in regional communities deserve the same rich, personalised support as anyone else.

For our founder Sally, that belief was born on the ground working as a Local Area Coordinator, hearing real stories, and witnessing the strengths and struggles of people navigating life with disability in regional NSW.

She saw the gaps. The waitlists. The distance.
And she couldn’t unsee it.

So she did something about it.

Azuraa was born not just as a service but as a community. A place where creativity, care, and connection are at the centre of support. Where we don’t just “tick boxes”, we build relationships that change lives.

From Shoalhaven to the Illawarra, our reach has grown.
But at our core, we’re still just people walking beside people, doing life together, with a whole lot of heart.

The Role:
✔️ Provide consistent 1:1 support to build safety, routine, and trust

Azuraa’s APEX Program is leading the way in prevention-first support for young people with psychosocial disability. Founded by ex-frontline professionals and grounded in lived experience, APEX isn’t just about managing behaviour, it’s about building trust, reducing risk, and walking beside young people before the crisis hits.

The role?
1:1 support for young people navigating complex challenges
Collaborate with families and behaviour practitioners
Use proactive, strengths-based strategies

It was a day full of laughter, cheering, community connection, and moments that reminded us what inclusion really looks like.

To our incredible participants who bowled their hearts out you did us proud, as always! To the organisers and community who made the event so special - thank you for creating space for joy, visibility, and celebration.

Are you a calm presence in chaos? A frontline pro ready to shift from reaction to prevention? We’re calling in highly skilled support workers to join Azuraa’s APEX Program, the Illawarra’s leading specialist service for young people with psychosocial disability.

The APEX difference?
Our Innovative Initiative is Leading the way in high-level NDIS support for young people, focused on prevention rather than reaction. Founded by ex-police and corrective services professionals, APEX blends lived experience, behaviour expertise, and Azuraa’s values-led approach to walk beside young people navigating complex lives.

This isn’t just another support role.
It’s prevention-first, high-impact support that transforms lives.

What’s involved:
• Supporting young people 1:1 to build trust, routine, and resilience
• Working collaboratively with behaviour practitioners and families
• Using proactive strategies (not just “managing behaviours”)
• Bringing empathy, structure, and calm to dynamic situations

What we’re looking for:
• Experience in disability, mental health, youth work — or previous frontline roles
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills
• A genuine passion for real change
