Today marks a significant day….
One year ago, we had the grand opening of our new business called Soul Space. This business was created to offer our community a space to connect, meet new people, share their skills and try new experiences.
The space was designed to allow people to be whoever they needed to be, especially after the challenging few years that all on the south coast and beyond have and continue to face.
Was the business of success? Yes! Many community members came to Soul Space because they felt it was a home away from home. With delicious locally made food and coffee, beautiful staff who would greet people with a smile and a variety of workshops on offer, the space was loved and growing.
We were blessed with Live music from a variety of genres, incredible friends, and volunteers, who offered their time to rebuild and repair.
While there was no financial success, I feel the way we are able to measure success is based on the feedback, and those who walked through the door and found a safe and nurturing environment.
As Active Art I was able to make incredible connections with local community members, and beyond. I facilitated mental health workshops for youth, workshops for mums and Bubs, the local theatre, Art & Sip, international women’s day, adult art programs, art workshops for all ages, school holidays programs, saw clients one on one and continue to focus on mental health and using art as a therapeutic tool. I have been privileged to work with approximately 300 participants in this time!
We feel truly blessed to have had this experience, met the people that we met, and to watch so many use the space for what it was intended.
As a family, we gave it our all, emotionally physically and financially. The hardest part about closing the doors was informing our beautiful staff and the gorgeous customers we now call friends.
Active Art continues to grow where I can work with even more clients, organisations, groups and schools to empower people to use art as a creative tool and understand more about mental health and resilience.
Thank you!!
Love Ness & Charlie and all who played a part in making Soul Space what it was.
