How beautiful is that pattern?!

These are carbon fibre AFOs (Ankle-Foot Orthoses) — lightweight, strong, and designed to make a huge difference in daily life.

✨ What is an AFO?
An AFO is a brace worn on the lower leg and foot to support proper alignment, improve walking ability, and reduce the risk of falls. They’re often custom-made to meet the unique needs of each individual.

🦵 Who uses them?
AFOs are commonly prescribed for conditions like:
- Stroke (post-stroke foot drop)
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Cerebral Palsy
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Spinal cord injuries

Carbon fibre sockets. They're durable, light and tough as nails and this one has a graphic to match!

Here are some facts about carbon fibre that you might not know.
1. 🔬 It's made from thin, strong, crystalline filaments of carbon, woven into a fabric and combined with resin.
2. 💪 It's stronger than steel by weight and about 5 times lighter!
3. 🌡 It has a low thermal expansion, which means it maintains shape and size under temperature changes.
4. 🚀 It's commonly used in satellites, and spacecraft, race cars, military drones and body armour and in earthquake-resistant buildings!
5. 🔥It requires high-temperature processing (1000°C - 3000°C!) in an oxygen-free environment.

Carbon fibre is really incredible stuff. If you've got any in your prosthetic or orthotic device, you're getting around with an amazing piece of human engineering! 👩‍🔬
