Peer workers are people who have faced their own mental health challenges and are trained to offer support, provide helpful resources, and create a safe space for conversation. They can listen, offer encouragement, or help you navigate tough moments in a way that feels comfortable for you.

If you would like to know more and/or meet with one of our peer workers, you can:

As many of us follow the emerging coverage of the recent incident at Bondi Beach, it’s understandable to feel heightened distress, confusion, fear or panic. During times like these, it’s important to share how you’re feeling with people you trust and to take gentle care of yourself.

With images and updates circulating on social media, consider limiting what you watch and share, as repeated exposure can increase distress.

Some helpful tips:

• Hit pause and step away: Turn off the TV or put your phone down for a while. Give yourself space to process without constant updates.

• Focus on your breathing: Slow, deep breaths from low in your belly can help calm your nervous system.

• Be kind to yourself: Feeling upset or anxious after seeing distressing events is a normal response - there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to feel.

• Reach out for support: Talking with a trusted friend, family member or colleague can help you feel supported and less alone.

If you need additional support, Lifeline is available 24/7 on 13 11 14.

You’re not alone - support is available.

Perinatal Mental Health Week is a reminder that the journey into parenthood can be joyful, overwhelming, and everything in between. And for many families, those emotions can come with extra challenges.

Every year, thousands of new mums and dads experience anxiety, depression, or other perinatal mental health concerns. It’s far more common than many people realise and nothing to be ashamed of.

This year’s theme, “What you need, when you need it,” highlights how vital timely, compassionate support can be. A listening ear, practical strategies, or simply having someone understand what you’re going through can make a world of difference.

At the Bathurst Medicare Mental Health Centre, you don’t need a referral or an appointment - just walk in. If you’re finding things tough, you’re not alone, and support is here when you’re ready.

What a fantastic day at the Bathurst NAIDOC March! 💛❤️🖤
Even the wind couldn’t stop the fun or dampen the community spirit! It was wonderful to see everyone come together to celebrate culture, connection and pride.

The fruit, water and iceblocks were a huge hit 🍉💧🍦

A big thank you to the amazing organisers and everyone who came along and helped make the day so special.
