Today we acknowledge World Su***de Prevention Day. A time to come together, raise awareness, and support one another.

This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative,” reminds us that every conversation matters. By breaking down stigma, listening without judgment, and showing compassion, we can all help create a community where people feel safe to reach out for support.

At the Bathurst Medicare Mental Health Centre, we’re committed to walking alongside our community in building hope and connection. If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that help is available, and reaching out can make a real difference.

Let’s change the narrative together - from silence to support, from stigma to understanding, and from isolation to connection.

📞 If you need immediate support, you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Su***de Call Back Service on 1300 659 467.

💜 Happy Wear it Purple Day! 💜

Today our team proudly stands in support of LGBTQIA+ young people and the message that everyone has the right to be proud of who they are and who they are becoming.

By wearing purple, we are showing our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive spaces where diversity is celebrated and mental health is nurtured.

Together, we can help break down stigma and remind young people that they are valued, respected, and never alone. 🌈✨

💼 Work is important - but so is your wellbeing.

Stress at work can sneak up on you, and without self-care, it can take a real toll on your mental health.

Remember: breaks aren’t a luxury - they’re a necessity.
✨ Take a walk at lunch.
✨ Set healthy boundaries with your time.
✨ Breathe - deeply and often.
✨ Give yourself permission to rest after work.

Looking after yourself isn’t selfish - it makes you stronger, more focused, and better equipped to handle challenges.

If work stress is becoming too much, we’re here to talk.
Drop in to see us or call 1800 595 212.

Peer workers are people who have faced their own mental health challenges and are trained to offer support, provide helpful resources, and create a safe space for conversation. They can listen, offer encouragement, or help you navigate tough moments in a way that feels comfortable for you.

If you would like to know more and meet with one of our peer workers (or 'peer wellbeing navigators' as we like to call them), you can:
✅visit us at 2/52 Durham St, Bathurst
✅email us at bathurst.mmhc@stride.com.au

Hi all,

Due to illness, the venue for Growth Rooms has had to be shifted back to the Neighbourhood Centre tonight.

Apologies for any drama this creates.

Calling Bathurstian men of all ages - the Bathurst Growth Room is being held at The Men's Shed this coming Monday!

Date: Monday 14th July
Time: 6pm
Place: The Men's Shed, 140 Havannah Street, Bathurst

This week the Bathurst Growth Room is being held at the Men's Shed to encourage more local men of all ages to connect and share with others, through having a yarn about what's going on in their lives, or spending time together working on hands-on Men's Shed projects.

It's a great way to get out of the house and connect with other blokes, so why not give it a go?

A great way to ground yourself and connect with the present moment is by tuning into your senses. Here’s how:

👁️Sight: Look around. What colours, shapes or patterns do you notice?
👂Sound: Listen carefully. Can you hear nearby sounds or things further away?
👉Touch: Notice how your clothes feel on your skin or the texture of something you can hold.
👃Smell: Take a slow breath in. What can you smell? Fresh air, food, or something nearby?
👅Taste: Focus on the taste in your mouth, even if it’s just your breath or a sip of water.

By slowly checking in with each sense, you bring your attention to right now, helping to calm your thoughts and ease anxiety.

Take a moment today to pause, breathe, and come back to yourself - one sense at a time.
