On Christmas Day, four PAWS Pet Therapy teams had the privilege of attending the Christmas Day lunch and festivities at Wayside Chapel.

The Wayside Chapel is a place of unconditional love, compassion and practical support. They provide meals, healthcare, counselling and connection for people doing it tough — not just at Christmas, but every single day of the year. It’s a space where everyone is welcomed, valued and treated with dignity.

Our PAWS teams visit Wayside every month, and every Christmas Day — a tradition that is important to us. On a day that can be joyful for some and incredibly hard for others, our dogs offer something beautifully simple: a calm presence, a warm pat, a moment of connection, and often a smile where one might be hard to find.

Cuddles, conversations, laughter and quiet moments were a nice addition to the festivities, helping to ensure everyone felt included and enjoyed the day.

Huge thanks to The Wayside Chapel team for the extraordinary work you do, and to Dahlia & Charlie; Jen & Peppa; Julie & Molly; Lesley with Mickey & Trixie, for giving up part of your Christmas Day to create moments that truly matter.

PAWS In Action! Check out this beautiful guy Fisher! He & his mum Cat love visiting libraries for HSC Student support as well as universities to help the students there destress as well. Its kind of their super power 🤩 Not only is Fisher a therapy dog, he is also an emotional support dog for his brother Chips! Keep being fabulous Fisher 😁

Our Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre patients enjoyed a special visit from Bronix who is a part of pet therapy dogs!

Pet therapy dogs offer warmth and companionship to patients as they go through treatment and care. How can you say no to a face like that!

We also offer remote training packages for volunteers across regional NSW and interstate, so you and your four-legged partner can still join the PAWS family, and volunteer in your community.

PAWS In Action! How busy is Fiona with her 2 wonderful girls Frankie & Pippa!? They spend time bringing smiles & joy at Little Thinkers Early Learning Centre, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Baptistcare Aminya Centre and Anglicare Donington Court. They also visit many libraries and universities to brighten the days of students who feel stressed. Keep being awesome Frankie & Pippa 🤩

Beyond proud of my special boy, Doc, today!

We did our very first visit together at the lovely Gosling Creek Aged Care in Orange, and he absolutely shone.

It’s a big adjustment when you’re used to working with a long-time partner, and heading into this visit without Hudson at the end of the lead made me a little anxious.

But Doc stepped up beautifully — calm, gentle, enthusiastic, and acting like he’s been visiting his whole life.

We’ve always known Doc had something special, even as a pup, and today he showed us he is a true therapy dog.

Upon leaving the facility, we left a few extra smiles… and that’s always good for the soul!
