Disability Support and Management Services Tasmania is a newly established company that prides itself on an individualised and personalised approach of providing a range of participant focused and driven services for people living with a disability in the greater Hobart region of Tasmania. The Company is committed to its vision of building a community where people are empowered to live an independent life of their choice. The Role:

We are seeking experienced Disability Support Mentors who will provide an opportunity for the participants to achieve their goals in a caring, understanding and supportive environment. As a company, we provide support for both young individuals and adults living with various disabilities. Our services aim to enhance our participants' physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.

We are located in Hobart, and this excellent employment opportunity will provide you with the opportunity of experiencing the many beautiful sights and sounds of Hobart.
You will be responsible for providing mentoring and community access supports to our participants.

You will need the ability to provide personalised support tailored to each participant and occasionally deal with complex behaviours. You will need to be self-motivated and flexible in your service delivery while working in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications & experience

• A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Previous experience in the disability sector and/or community work preferred.
• Preferred Certificate III in Disability or previous experience as a support worker.
• National Police Check (National and International)
• Working with Vulnerable People Card with NDIS endorsements or willingness to undertake training
• Availability to perform a variety of shift types
• Dedication and reliability
• Well-developed organisational and communication skills
• Australian Drivers Licence and Vehicle
• NDIS COVID 19 Infection prevention and control certificate or willingness to undertake training

As an Individualised and Personalised Disability Support Mentor
, you will:

• Support clients to identify and achieve goals
• Support daily living activities through capacity building
• Maximise independence and confidence through enabling clients to access the community
• Implement routines and structures through positive role modelling
• Collaborate with team members
• Build effective relationships with clients and their families and carers
