How Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency (PEMF) therapy may help

What the research says
A 2020 systematic review and meta-analysis confirmed PEMF reduced pain and improved physical function in knee OA patients.

Prevalence of Vitamin D Deficiency

DID YOU KNOW

Many cancer patients are found to have low levels of vitamin D. Research indicates that skin cancer patients who avoid sun exposure are three times more likely to be vitamin D deficient compared to healthy individuals.

This deficiency can increase the risk of various health issues, including certain cancers.

Connection Between Vitamin D and Cancer

While the relationship between vitamin D and cancer is still being studied, some observational studies suggest that low vitamin D levels may be linked to an increased risk of developing certain types of cancer, such as breast and colorectal cancer. Adequate vitamin D levels are generally associated with a lower risk of dying from cancer.

Several factors contribute to vitamin D deficiency among cancer patients:

Limited Sun Exposure: Patients often avoid sunlight to reduce skin cancer risk, which decreases their vitamin D production.

Geographic Location: Individuals living in northern or Midwest states may have less access to sunlight, leading to higher deficiency rates.

Skin Pigmentation: Darker skin absorbs more sunlight, requiring longer exposure to produce adequate vitamin D.

Recommendations
To maintain healthy vitamin D levels, cancer patients are encouraged to consider dietary sources, such as fatty fish and fortified foods, and to discuss supplementation with their healthcare provider.

Regular monitoring of vitamin D levels through blood tests is also advisable.

This week we say goodbye to Dr Jane Goodall, who has passed away at 91. Her life’s work reshaped how we see ourselves in relation to the natural world, and her message feels more urgent than ever.

Back in 1960, Jane travelled to Tanzania and quietly changed science forever. By watching and listening rather than controlling, she showed us that chimpanzees make tools, live in complex communities and, most importantly, have individuality and emotion. She gave them names. She saw them as beings, not just data. That simple act shifted how millions of people view animals and our connection with them.

She went on to found the Jane Goodall Institute, advocate globally for conservation, and inspire generations. From the United Nations to grassroots communities, she stood up for forests, wildlife and the delicate systems that keep us all alive.

Her story is not just about chimpanzees. It is about empathy, patience and the belief that every choice we make, what we buy, how we live, what we protect, shapes the future.
