Today, 11th November, residents and staff at Ferndale Gardens came together to pause for a moment of silence to remember the veterans and those men and women who gave their courage and dedication serving our country both past and present.

Resident Don laid the wreath on behalf of everyone at Ferndale Gardens — a truly special moment of remembrance and respect.

We are especially proud to honour the veterans within our own community — your stories and bravery continue to inspire us all.

Ferndale Gardens had a tea-rific time at their Mad Hatter's Afternoon! Residents and a few family members enjoyed delicious treats, music, Alice in Wonderland trivia, silly riddles, and plenty of laughter. It truly was a magical day for everyone.

Residents and staff at Ferndale Gardens came together to celebrate Christmas in July, a magical day filled with festive cheer, delicious food, and plenty of laughter. The highlight? A surprise visit from Santa himself, bringing joy and smiles all around!

A huge thank you to the amazing Lifestyle team for the stunning table decorations, to the dedicated staff for their care and kindness, and to the talented chef and team for the mouthwatering festive feast.

It was a truly joyful day shared with wonderful company. Here's to making memories that warm the heart! 🔔🎄🎅

It's National Volunteer Week, highlighting the significant contribution 6 million Australian volunteers play in strengthening communities and creating positive change.

Homestyle acknowledges the remarkable contributions and profound impact the volunteers make in each of our homes, and thank and recognise them for their tireless work.

Cath has volunteered once a week at Ferndale Gardens home for 17 years, playing the piano as well as leading the knit & chat group. Cath has helped foster a sense of community and encouraged creativity amongst the residents. The friendships she has made and precious conversations had are testament to her kindness and commitment.

We truly value and appreciate the wonderful input and support all our volunteers provide at Homestyle, they make a huge difference to the residents and staff, but we always welcome more! 🫶

Volunteers at Homestyle can be involved in activities such as Morning/Afternoon tea, Arts & Crafts, resident walks, games & quizzes as well as assisting with special events. Whatever your availability and the number of hours you wish to volunteer, we will accommodate you wherever possible. Simply contact the home direct that you would like to volunteer at and speak to the Lifestyle team.

Homestyle Aged Care CEO Tim Humphries is taking part in the annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout on 19th June on the rooftop carpark at the South Melbourne market.

Joining hundreds of other CEO’s and businesses owners, as well as community and government leaders, Tim will sleep outdoors to raise awareness and help raise funds for the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness.

The funds raised help to provide immediate relief to people, like food and crisis accommodation, as well as supporting healthcare, education, employment and other critical support services essential to those facing homelessness.

Ferndale Gardens recently hosted Beekeeper Tom from Coastal Nectar.

Ben presented an Educational bee Workshop to the residents, discovering why bees are important to our environment and the food we eat. The Workshop covered topics such as the lifecycle of a bee, pollination powers, as well as providing hands on equipment, beeswax and of course honey!

Residents and staff got to taste the delicious honey that Ben had just harvested, as well as enjoying a hands on candle making workshop. A fascinating Presentation, Workshop and experience enjoyed by all. 🐝🌼🍯

International Nurses Day was celebrated around the world on May 12th, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. The day acknowledges the compassion, professionalism, and round-the-clock commitment of nurses caring for patients. It’s a day to celebrate and appreciate nurses and acknowledge the important role they play in our health system.

Ferndale Gardens held an afternoon tea to say thank you to our nurses for their dedication, commitment and care in providing exceptional care to the residents. Group General Manager Dawn Griffiths attended along with Director of Nursing Lakshmi Reghunath, who said a few words of thanks to all attendees, pointing out that without our nurses, Ferndale Gardens could not achieve the unparalleled quality of care and leadership that the home provides to the residents.
