Tired all the time? Chinese medicine can tell why — just by feeling your pulse.

In Chinese Medicine, fatigue isn’t just one thing. It can be caused by deficiency, stagnation, or both — and knowing the real reason makes all the difference in your treatment.

That’s where pulse diagnosis comes in — a diagnostic method unique to Chinese medicine, developed over thousands of years. By feeling the qualities of your pulse at three positions on each wrist, we can understand what’s happening deep inside your body.

You might be exhausted because your Yang — your internal fire — is running low. Or your fatigue could be due to Qi stagnation — energy that’s stuck, not flowing properly. In that case, you’re not actually deficient... just blocked. The treatment is completely different.

This is why we don’t guess — we feel the pulse and let the body tell the story.

✨ Through pulse diagnosis, I create an individualised herbal plan to treat the exact cause of your tiredness — whether it’s deficiency, stagnation, or a mix of both.

If you're ready to understand what’s really going on with your energy, contact our clinic to book a personalised consultation with expert herbalist Marie Hopkinson.

Modern life is a Yang-zapper 😓🔥... but moxa can help.

In Chinese medicine, Yang is your body’s fire — it gives you energy, warmth, motivation, digestion, circulation. But today, Yang deficiency is incredibly common.

Think about it:
📱 Constant phone and screen use
🌙 Late nights and poor sleep
⏰ Long work hours, side hustles, working two jobs
🚣 Just trying to keep afloat of inflation
🍔 Processed food, stress, burnout...

We’re taxing our energy reserves daily — and eventually, the body runs cold and slow. That’s Yang deficiency.

This is where moxibustion comes in.

Burning moxa (mugwort herb) on acupuncture points is like stoking your internal fire. It’s the acupuncture equivalent of taking Yang tonic herbs — warming, nourishing, and deeply restorative.

In my clinic, I often prescribe herbs for Yang deficiency, but moxa is a powerful ally too. We use it during treatments or, in some cases, teach patients how to use self-moxa at home for daily support. It’s simple, effective, and deeply traditional.

Your body doesn’t just need rest — it needs warmth 🔥

Did you know the most powerful tool in acupuncture might not even involve a needle? 🔥🌿

This is me, Marie Hopkinson, in clinic performing moxibustion — an ancient technique that’s been used by doctors for thousands of years.

It involves burning the herb mugwort (also known as moxa) near specific points on the body. The heat penetrates deeply, helping to relieve pain, warm the body, and support what we call Yang deficiency — a key pattern in Chinese medicine linked to low energy, cold limbs, and fatigue.

Moxa is a game-changer. Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, digestive issues, or hormonal imbalance, your acupuncturist might recommend it as part of your treatment plan.

We offer moxibustion at our clinic whenever it’s appropriate — your practitioner will walk you through what to expect and get your consent before we begin.

There’s more to acupuncture than just needles!

Feeling constantly tired, no matter how much rest you get? Chinese medicine sees your fatigue differently — and treats it at the root.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Yang is the body’s vital warmth — it fuels energy, circulation, digestion, and drive. But modern life taxes this system hard:
📱 Endless screen time
🌙 Late nights
🍔 Poor diet
💼 Long work hours & chronic stress

When Yang runs low, it can affect us in different ways and at different levels.

Tàiyīn tiredness relates more to digestion and fluids — you may feel heavy, bloated, and sluggish.

Shàoyīn tiredness is deeper — it’s like the body’s generator is running low. Imagine trying to power your house with not enough electricity in the grid. The lights are on, but the glow is dim. People with Shaoyin tiredness often feel the need to sleep during the day just to keep going. Hot flushes, hot at night, difficulty sleeping are also common symptoms. Shaoyin tiredness can be a progression of the Taiyin deficiency and often also has the digestive symptoms as well.

Chinese herbal medicine has specific formulas for these different types of tiredness — tailored to support the exact pattern of Yang deficiency you’re experiencing.

Through pulse diagnosis and a detailed consultation, we determine the right herbal treatment for you.

✨ If you’re ready to restore your energy naturally, contact our clinic to book a one-on-one consultation with expert herbalist Marie Hopkinson. Your body’s power is worth reigniting.
