👶💗 A Sweet Moment with Dr Aliya and one of our littlest patients during their 6-week check-up.

The 6-week check is an important milestone — for both baby and mum! It’s a great time to talk about your baby’s development, your recovery, and ask any questions you may have.

Here are some tips to help you prepare:
• Bring your Blue Book or baby health record
• Be ready to discuss feeding, sleep, and nappies
• Your GP and nurse will check baby’s weight, head size, hips, eyes & reflexes
• Babies can be unsettled — that’s totally normal! Feel free to bring a toy, bottle, or comforter.
• Immunisations can be given at this visit, feeding your baby straight after immunisations can also help soothe them.
• A support person can help hold, feed or soothe your baby during the check-up.
• Share how you're feeling emotionally and physically
• Ask about recovery, contraception and pelvic floor health
• And remember nothing is too small or too personal to bring up

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that affects the lungs and airways. While it often causes mild symptoms in adults and older children, it can be dangerous for newborns and young infants — leading to serious conditions like bronchiolitis or pneumonia. 😷

If you’re pregnant, you can help protect your baby before they’re even born.

Have you heard about the new Lung Cancer Screening Program?

A new funded national screening program is available from July 1st 2025! — and it could save lives by detecting lung cancer early, when it’s most treatable.

Who’s eligible?
You might qualify if you:
✔️ Are aged between 50 and 70 years
✔️ Show no signs or symptoms suggesting you may have lung cancer (that is, you are asymptomatic)
✔️ Currently smoke or have quit smoking within the past 10 years
✔️ Have a history of to***co cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years

Why consider screening?
A quick, low-dose CT scan could pick up signs of lung cancer early — before symptoms even appear.
