We are excited to announce a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will be operating out of BVMP from 31 January!

The Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) will be a great addition to the Bega Valley and will assist in taking the pressure off our already stretched local GPs and will result in our hospital emergency department having more space to help patients who are very sick or have life-threatening emergencies. As long as your medical issue meets the ‘urgent care’ criteria you can be seen at the UCC. Minor infections, mild burns, small cuts, suspected fractures, coughs and colds can all be dealt with at an UCC.

The UCC will be open from 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week including public holidays. No appointment needed and all visits will be bulk billed and confidential. For more information visit https://www.bvmp.com.au/medicare-urgent-care-clinic.html

BVMP NEWS: From 1 November we will become a fully bulk-billed medical practice. The team at BVMP are pleased to help remove the barrier of cost and allow us to continue to provide quality health care to our patients.

Although most standard GP consultations will be bulk billed, some appointments such as commercial driver’s licences, travel advice and certain procedures and vaccinations may still require a fee as these are not covered by Medicare.

Please remember to keep our reception team informed of any changes to your demographic information and check we have your current Medicare details on file.

Stomach cramps? 😵 Vomiting? 🤮
It’s easy to get confused whether it’s the stomach flu or food poisoning - both are forms of gastro (Gastroenteritis) and have very similar symptoms!

But there’s a key difference to help you tell them apart! It depends on what exact bacteria or virus you’ve been exposed to!

Stomach flu is viral while food poisoning is bacterial!

In both cases, if symptoms are mild self-care at home is enough for recovery. Focus on resting and staying hydrated. But if you struggle to keep down fluids, notice blood or mucous in your vomit or symptoms last longer than 3 days see your GP.

BVMP is delighted to welcome a new doctor to our team!

Dr Momotaz Khatun is a passionate and experienced general practitioner with international experience in providing quality primary healthcare. She completed her medical degree in 2009 from Bangladesh. Since then, she has worked as a GP in several countries and brings a wealth of global medical knowledge to her patients.

After moving to Australia as a permanent resident in 2023, Dr Khatun successfully completed the Australian Medical Council’s exams demonstrating her dedication to Australian medical standards. She has a special interest in preventive health, chronic disease management, women’s health, and mental health.

Outside the clinic, Dr Khatun enjoys reading, exploring different cultures, and discovering the natural beauty of Australia. With her warm approach and strong clinical skills, Dr Khatun is here to support your health journey every step of the way!
