✨ Celebrating 600 Years of Wisdom ✨

Last week we proudly honoured our six centenarians – together marking an incredible 600 years of life and wisdom.

We were joined by The Hon. Amanda Rishworth MP, who delivered a heartfelt speech, alongside our CEO Sara, Director Natasha, RCM Caroline, staff, families, and friends who made the day so special.

A highlight of the celebration was the contribution from students of our co-located Southern Montessori School. These talented young people created beautiful stories for each centenarian, weaving together old photos and cherished memories into touching presentations. Seeing teenagers honour and respect the lives of those who have lived a century was truly inspiring. 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to the students, teachers, and families for their incredible efforts in making this milestone event one we will never forget. 💖

🌟 This month has been full of special moments for our Kalyra McLaren Vale Aged Care community! 🌟

💃 Mick kept moving and smiling with Let’s Dance exercises led by physio student Amy
🐱 We celebrated International Day for Cats with our much-loved resident cat, Maggie – who celebrated with a cake for her 8th birthday! She continues to bring so much joy to everyone
👏 We honoured Aged Care Employee Day, celebrating our incredible staff and the care they provide each day
🧶 Creativity flowed in our Ladies’ Group with some beautiful knitting sessions
🎤 Residents were treated to an afternoon of fun and glamour with Alex performing as Marilyn Monroe
🍽️ Our Men’s Group enjoyed a lovely lunch outing to Sellicks Beach, filled with good company and seaside views

These moments are what make our home so special. 💛

This month has been filled with moments of joy, connection, and community for our Kalyra Belair Aged Care residents.

🐾 Smiles from pet therapy and the comfort animals bring
🏡 “Our Home, Our Way” meeting – empowering voices and choices
👧👦 Laughter and learning with local school children
🎲 A little healthy competition over a game of dominoes
🚌 Scenic bus outings bringing fresh air and fresh perspectives
🍌 The delicious aroma (and taste!) of homemade banana bread

These experiences play such an important role in supporting wellbeing, belonging, and happiness for our residents.

✨ Help at Home Murray Bridge at the Aged & Carers Expo ✨

Earlier in August, Help at Home Murray Bridge was proud to host an exhibition stand at The Rotary Club of Murray Bridge Aged & Carers Expo.

The Expo was a wonderful opportunity for our team at Kalyra to connect with the community and share the broad range of services we offer to support people in maintaining their independence while living in their own homes. 🏡💙

A big thank you to the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge for organising such an important event for older community members, carers, and their families.

We loved meeting everyone who stopped by our stand, and we look forward to continuing to support our community with care, respect, and choice.

🌟 Good News Story 🌟

We love celebrating moments that make a difference in our clients’ lives.

Last Saturday night, our Help at Home client, Linda, attended the Port Adelaide v Fremantle game at Adelaide Oval — and she had an amazing time!

Thanks to the purchase of an electric wheelchair through her Home Care Package, Linda has enjoyed greater independence and more opportunities to connect with her community. This new mobility has opened the door to more social outings — and plenty more footy games in the future!

We’re so proud to see Linda living life to the fullest and can’t wait to hear about her next adventure. 🙌⚡

🌱 Growing Together at Kalyra Bellevue Heights Village 🌱

Over the past year, our Kalyra Bellevue Heights Village residents have been leading an inspiring Revegetation Project, thanks to a successful City of Mitcham Community Grant for 'Native plant revegetation in a Grey Box grassy woodland'.

Recently, our residents were joined by the bright and enthusiastic Year 3/4 students from Bellevue Heights Primary School for an intergenerational planting day. Together, we planted 200 seedlings, working side-by-side to nurture our local environment.

It was a wonderful morning filled with teamwork and muddy hands — a true celebration of community spirit and care for nature. 🌳💚

🎄 Wow, what a day! Christmas in July at Kalyra McLaren Vale 🎄

Our residents had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas in July, and the festive spirit was alive and well! 🎅 Santa made a special appearance with treats for everyone, and the cheer continued with a delicious 3-course lunch prepared by our amazing Chef Matt – it was absolutely delicious! 👨‍🍳
And to top it off, the lovely Rosie gave a heartwarming performance that had everyone singing along. 🎶

It’s more than just knitting — it’s about conversation, laughter, and sharing stories over a hot cuppa. The joy in the room is contagious, and every stitch is made with love. 💕

🌱 Growing Together at Kalyra Woodcroft! 🌿

Recently, we had the joy of welcoming students from Southern Montessori School to join our residents in planting vegetables. Together, they added fresh life to our garden beds—and soon, that produce will be making its way into delicious dishes in our café kitchen! 🥕🍅

This heartwarming collaboration is a beautiful reminder of the power of nurturing nature, learning side by side, and building meaningful connections across generations. 💚

📣 Exciting News from Kalyra!

This week, we proudly launched a new and innovative training program in partnership with The Action Learning Institute (ALI) and the Australian Nursing Midwifery Education Centre (ANMEC)!

Our first cohort of Help at Home Support Workers (HSWs) have commenced the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support—delivered through a workplace-based action learning model.

🎓 Supported by Skills SA funding, participants will gain a nationally recognised qualification while continuing to provide high-quality, person-centred care to our community.

👏 Congratulations to our first group of learners! We look forward to seeing the impact this program brings.
