Creative Kids Therapy

Creative Kids Therapy Provides therapeutic creative counselling to kids, teens and parents. It offers a safe place to g*i I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping).

Using a range of techniques in my counselling, I have found creative arts therapy, including sandplay therapy, combined with other ‘talking’ therapies, extremely powerful and effective. Kids and teens find these techniques very engaging and playful, whilst learning strategies to cope, and getting a better understanding of how to be. Parents are intrigued by the process, the self discovery and personal development. Being creative in my counselling, gives individuals a sense of a relaxed space where they can let down any guards and be open to exploring the process. Some common reasons for seeking out a Counsellor:
• Behaviour and Mood changes
• Grief and loss
• Parents have separated
• Depressed, anxious, stressed
• Struggling with school, Bullying
• Problems making friends
• Anger management
• Issues with siblings, family change with new baby
• Relationships with parents
• A significant trauma
• Self-esteem issue
• Self-harming

She might be an old tinny but it’s all new for us 👏👌🎣

My hubby has been wanting a tinny for a while — something simple where he and our son can head out fishing together, boat camping and family adventures too.

Yesterday she had her first voyage at Half Moon Bay, a mate went along too 🍾

Our son loved every minute — sitting right up on the bow, having a turn behind the wheel, feeling the tinny bounce over the bay waves, and casting a line out. A little squid was caught 👏

My son was on such a high when he got home. 🙌😆

River trips, fishing days, and plenty of family memories to be made ⚓️🎣

Helpful ideas for everyday moments with kids 🙏🏼💕

I’m starting a new weekly series where I’ll be sharing some of the everyday moments we experience with kids, along with a few simple ideas that might help in those moments.

This week I spoke about kids feeling nervous when they have school athletics tryouts. I shared a few ideas I used to support my son and he was able to participate in the tryouts.

You might have noticed in the video that I even had a little squishy in my hand 😅

Turns out regulation tools can help adults too.🤷🏻‍♀️

Recording videos isn’t something that comes naturally to me, so it was helping me stay a little more regulated while I filmed.

If this series feels helpful, I’d love you to follow along each week 🥰

If you’re interested in the Keep Calm Kits, feel free to join the priority list through the link in my bio 💚

Indoor Skatepark — The Shed

My son, his cousins and a mate had a great afternoon on the scooters today.

It’s so great watching them follow each other around — taking turns dropping in, trying to learn new tricks, getting closer to landing that kickflip and always popping ollies.

My son has grown up going to skate parks as his Dad still skates, so from a young age he’s learnt the skate park etiquette — being aware of others and knowing when it’s your turn to drop in.

It was great seeing them all come together, pushing each other along. They just keep going and going… even when they don’t quite land the trick yet. The persistence is pretty amazing.

Lots of sweat, fun times, and a shared understanding and love of being on the scooter. 👏

When a Bali breathwork retreat opens you up in ways you didn’t expect 🙏🏼✨

A friend shared one of those iPhone photo collages from our Bali retreat last May… and it brought back so many beautiful memories.

Since joining the Breathe success community, there’s really been no looking back — only looking forward.

Before the retreat we already knew each other in some ways through the online mentorship and the journey we were on together.

But there’s nothing quite like coming together in person.

Being in a space where you can be open, vulnerable, and explore different parts of yourself alongside women walking a similar path.

In many ways we arrived as strangers…

yet somehow left with friendships that feel like they’ve always been there.

Looking back nearly a year later, it’s incredible to reflect on how much growth has happened for so many of these women — in business and in themselves.

I know that’s true for me too.

Some of us even left with the same female warrior tattoo — Mukatila an Arabic word describing a woman with strong resilient and courageous mindset.

So grateful to share in these experiences together 🙏🏼💚

There have definitely been some unexpected roadblocks so far.

Even after years in business, bringing out a new product has stretched me in ways I didn’t fully anticipate. 🤯

Stock arriving wrong.
Refunds and exchanges to organise.
Costs I didn’t factor in.
New systems I’m still learning.
Decision fatigue. 🤪

One thing I was taught in training is that confusion is the gateway to learning. ✨

Even in those moments of “f&” or tears when I’m feeling completely maxed out…

I have to remind myself that while there can be frustration and overwhelm, it won’t always feel this way.

Soon it will click.
It will come together.
There’ll be that aha moment. 💡

This is part of the process.

And I’m trying hard to embrace it. 🙏🏼💚

It wasn’t even planned.

We were at a friend’s house down the street… swimming, playing, hanging out for hours.

Then the boys asked if he could stay.

He’s 10.

Up until recently, sleepovers were only ever at my Sister’s or my Mum’s — and even that’s only been in the last year or so without me there.

Sleeping somewhere without family
wasn’t even on the radar.

Too unknown.
Too unfamiliar.

But this time felt different.

I made sure he knew what to do if he needed me.

And he stayed.

Movie. Popcorn. No drama.

I love these quiet, unexpected moments of growth 🙌

So proud of him.💚

Care Team Meetings 🙌

Most of my work happens in the therapy room.

But part of supporting a child can include meeting with the wider care team.

These meetings bring together the parent and the practitioners supporting the child.
Sometimes it also extends to include relevant school staff.

Most meetings are online — simply because it’s easier to coordinate everyone’s schedules. Occasionally we meet in person when logistics allow.

Some are scheduled monthly or once a term.
Others are organised sooner when extra support is needed.

These meetings are a space for:

• Updates on how things are going at home and school
• Talking through concerns and safety
• Reflecting on a child’s strengths
• Sharing information
• Planning next steps
• Exploring new strategies
• Setting goals
• Clarifying who is supporting what

It’s about making sure everyone is aligned and working on the same page.

This work matters, progress doesn’t happen in isolation.

It happens when we build a team — a village — around a child. 💚

Free spirit energy.🐾

He’s not normally on a lead when we run…
but the second I clip it on, he grabs it and takes himself for a run. 😆

Very independent.
Very confident.
Very committed to being in charge.

Skip is very loved — especially by my clients.
He’ll often wait at the top of the driveway to greet them like the official welcoming committee.

He’s our slightly free-range Hills dog — big block, no fencing (yet), usually just a quick wander and back.

Motorbikes and certain cars bring out his chase instinct… so fencing is happening. 😅

Recall is still a work in progress. 🤷🏻‍♀️

First game back for Saturdays… it was tough! 😅

31 degrees in Belgrave — and even hotter out at Ferntree Gully with that 2:15pm court heat.

No subs.
Full game.
Water spray bottle being shared around for survival 😂

By the end I was flat on the ground trying to recover.

Next stop… a Super Duper in one hand and Gatorade for the electrolytes 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

I even forgot to take my GA bib off — I was that hot and done 🫣

We lost by one goal. ONE ☝️

I knew we were down by one and my mind was saying, you can do this…
but my body definitely had other ideas.
Pretty sure the whole team felt the same. 🤪

We played well.
So did the other team — although they did have subs 😆

Proud of the game we played in that heat ☀️🥵

It’s a sign. ✨

This morning after breathwork, I noticed the session time was 11:11.

And my heart skipped a beat.

Since the start of this year, I’ve seen those numbers a handful of times.

Often it’s when I go to send a text… and there it is.

Huge smile 🙌

And if I’m honest, it hasn’t all felt calm or effortless lately.

I’ve been stretched.
Overloaded.
Trying to juggle kids, home, work, building something new… and not always coping brilliantly.

But maybe alignment isn’t about everything feeling easy.

Maybe it’s about continuing anyway — even when I feel pushed 🫣

No matter what, I’m choosing to keep showing up. 💚✨

Haircuts have never been easy.

From a young age, even water on his face or washing his hair was hard 😔

There’s always been something sensory about it — maybe the unpredictability, not feeling in control 🤷🏻‍♀️

There have been many hard NOs to even the thought of a haircut — sometimes we had it booked and couldn’t go in. Other times we didn’t leave the house. 🫣

But over the last couple of years, something has shifted.

Not every time — but sometimes he has a moment where it just works. He’s regulated. He’s ready.

This is what has to fall into place:

– That Barbershop.
– Leah — the one he trusts.
– Dad taking him.

Yesterday my hubby was heated off work — he works in construction. My son was home due to another Extreme Fire Danger Day.

One appointment left with Leah 🙌

Jackpot 👏🎉

And he did it.
The smile on his face said it all 😍

It might look like “just a haircut.”
But for some kids, it’s so much more than that.

I’m just so proud of him 🤍
