Is screen time affecting your pelvic floor?
When we spend hours slouched over our phones or laptops, it doesn’t just affect our neck and back – it can place extra pressure on the pelvic floor muscles too. Over time, this may contribute to issues like leakage, pelvic pain, and poor core support.
The good news? Simple posture adjustments and regular breaks can go a long way in protecting your pelvic health.

🚫 Pelvic floor myths = confusion + frustration. Let’s set the record straight!
❌ More squeezing isn’t always better
❌ Holding your breath during exercise adds pressure (and risk)
❌ Avoiding exercise won’t solve the problem
❌ Leaking isn’t “normal” it’s treatable!
✅ A healthy pelvic floor is about balance: strength, coordination and relaxation.

Just wanted to repost here, since we are still on the search for a team member to join our team of MSK and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. https://sydneywomensphysiotherapy.com.au/join-the-team/

This role will suit you if you want to be exposed to a full comprehensive pelvic health clinic, to learn and grow your skills.
We have refined our mentoring program to provide you with the most optimal support (see our mentoring slide).

We want you to be part of the team for the long term, since this helps build your ideal caseload, and a following of patients who treats you as part of their trusted healthcare team.

YOLO! We want you to come to work to be the full YOU! to share all the adventure that you had over the weekend or be excited with you when you just submitted your assignment, just booked your next overseas trip, got to sleep in!

Pelvic health physiotherapy is truly a rewarding career, but we do hear about burnout that can happen. My team are completely committed to supporting you in this career, so that you can grow as a therapist and as a person. Life should be enjoyed even when the bumps happen.

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of GREAT! give me an email/ or call, if you want to explore what working for Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy would look like for you. Karaoke singing is desired but not essential 🎤😁(my team just wanted me to add that last part, we do like to sing here).

🪑 Many of us spend hours sitting each day — at work, in the car, or relaxing at home. But did you know sitting too long could place more pressure on your pelvic area and result in pain?
✨ The good news: small changes make a big difference!
✔️ Take movement breaks every 30–45 mins
✔️ Sit tall with hips slightly higher than knees
✔️ Use cushions or an ergonomic chair for support
✔️ Practice deep breathing to relax your pelvic floor
💡 Bonus tip: notice if you’re clenching your pelvic floor without realising — letting go is just as important as strengthening. (Sometimes when you have pain, you may be tensing your pelvic floor more. So, recognising to relax them will help with the pain.)

😴 Did you know the way you sleep can affect your pelvic floor?
The right position can ease pressure, reduce tension, and improve comfort overnight.
✨ Try side-lying with a pillow between your knees, lying on your back with a pillow under your knees, or semi-reclined with extra support.
🚫 Avoid stomach sleeping if you can — it can increase pressure through your pelvis and lower back.
💡 Pro tip: add a few minutes of deep breathing or pelvic floor relaxation before bed to help your body fully switch off.
📍 Want more support for pelvic floor health? Book with our team at Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy.
