1. 𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗼
It’s not just a childhood condition — degenerative scoliosis often appears later in life due to spinal wear and tear.

2. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗡𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲
Approximately 80% of scoliosis cases are “idiopathic,” meaning there’s no known reason — but that doesn’t mean it should be ignored.

3. 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 = 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀
Catching scoliosis early can prevent progression and reduce the need for surgery. A quick spinal check can make a lasting difference.

Many patients are managed with observation, physiotherapy, or bracing. Surgery is only recommended when truly necessary.

We had a great turnout at the Spinal Health for GPs education evening at Blacktown Exercise Sports and Technology Hub (BEST)! 🙌

It was an engaging night of learning and discussion around imaging, red flags, and referral pathways for spinal conditions—led by a fantastic panel of experts: Dr Brian Hsu, Dr Bhisham Singh, Dr Michael Crampton, and Christopher Hughes.

From spinal stenosis case studies to rehab pathways, attendees gained valuable, RACGP CPD-accredited insights to better support their patients.

📢 Advancing Spine Care at AO Spine Masters Seminar 2025

Over the weekend, Dr Brian Hsu joined an expert faculty at the AO Spine Masters Seminar—Complications in Deformity and Endoscopy in Singapore. The event focused on Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT), Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MIS), and Endoscopic Spine Surgery.

As a regional faculty member, Dr Hsu shared his expertise through case discussions and presentations, contributing to best practices in spine surgery.

Events like these help advance spine surgery by fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and improving patient care.

Dr Brian Hsu & Dr Bhisham Singh

Dr Hsu has been caring for patients with spinal disorders for more than 10 years in NSW. Dr Hsu’s areas of interest lie in all aspects of spine surgery and spinal disorders, in particular, adult and paediatric spine deformity, complex cervical reconstructions, spinal osteotomies and degenerative cervical and lumbar conditions.

Dr Singh has completed 10 years of advanced surgical training in orthopaedic surgery in both the UK and India, and completed further spinal surgery fellowship training with Dr Hsu. He is experienced in treating cervical thoracic and lumbar spine issues as well as orthopaedic conditions.
