Has Mercury in Retrograde played out for you in the last month? Technology and miscommunications have certainly caused a bit of havoc in our household. But also lucid dreams and memories popping up about people and situations from the past, in a very thought-provoking and healing way. Mercury is turning direct again later this week. Thank goodness. But I’m grateful for the reviewing and revisiting of the stories I’ve carried from my past and a new way of honouring them now through a fresh new lens.

Mercury will turn direct by the end of the week, soon momentum will be much easier to build. Meanwhile, Virgo calls us to harvest our efforts, complete what we’ve begun, and sort the wheat from the chaff or the nutrients from the crap, in all the metaphors. Virgo is the sign associated with our guts and is symbolized by a woman holding a sheaf of grain. We need to not focus on what we release, but on what we want to absorb instead.

My childhood friend Michele John is currently on a scientific expedition to assess the impact of climate change on the Antartica. Half a century on from our carefree primary school days, she’s a Professor at Curtin University in my home town Perth, Western Australia.
For anyone who doesn’t believe or is sitting on the fence about whether climate change is real, take a look at the vista behind her. This photo of her taken just a couple of days ago is in the Antarctic Peninsula, where the snow is melting for summer. She’s told me that ‘Iceberg 26A’ has just broken off. To put that into perspective, it’s the size of Canberra!!
