We get a lot of questions (& puns!) about H**p. Here's something most people don't know...

Not only does the h**p plant rehabilitate and enrich soil, but industrial h**p can also naturally clean and detoxify soils contaminated with toxic substances and pollutants.

Labelled a ‘mop-crop’, industrial h**p has cleaned up (absorbed) metals, pesticides, solvents, explosives, crude oil and toxins in landfills through a process called 'phytoremediation'.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The industrial h**p used for phytoremediation becomes biofuel, following a different path to the h**p products we consume.

How can you access medicinal cannabis?

You can only access legal medicinal cannabis products via a script from your doctor, specialist, or by taking part in a clinical trial.

Your first step is to discuss medicinal cannabis with your doctor, to determine if the medicine will help you and which product to prescribe. They will then complete the required forms to get the necessary government approvals.

Once the approval comes through, your doctor can write you a prescription which can be taken to any pharmacy to have your product dispensed.

Lucy Haslam spearheaded the movement to re-introduce medicinal cannabis into Australia. She witnessed the dramatic relief her son, Dan (suffering stage 4 bowel cancer) gained from using medicinal cannabis and who championed the cause alongside her.

Medicinal cannabis refers to the use of cannabis or cannabinoids (molecules found in the Cannabis plant) as medical therapy to treat disease or alleviate symptoms.

The cannabis plant contains 80 to 100 cannabinoids. Two of these cannabinoids are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), used in most medicinal cannabis products.

THC is the chemical known to get people “high”, while CBD has no intoxicating effects and can treat a wide range of symptoms.

International research continues to look into the benefits of some of the other minor cannabinoids.

This week marks Australia’s first Medicinal Cannabis Awareness Week (MCAW), with organisers calling on the industry to back the initiative and help raise public awareness of the medicine.

Passionate advocate, Lucy Haslam (United in Compassion (UIC) and AMCA co-founder) has said the week is timed to coincide with the anniversary of both the legalisation of medicinal cannabis and her son Dan’s passing, eight years ago.
