so why, one might wonder, does the CAIRO Eau de Parfum come in a soft, calico pouch? pretty unconventional for perfume packaging, no? 👀.

it is actually a very intentional homage to my time in Egypt... exploring the beguiling jewellery shops nestled in the amber glow of the market bazaars—collecting gleaming pieces of silver like treasure... ✨.

and some of the jewellery merchants would package their jewellery in delicate, ‘dust’ pouches such as these, emblazoned with their simple, yet striking, logos. i still have them to this day, and they have served as inspirations of beauty and nostalgia for the CAIRO design.

if you were to peep into my life, you’d see that my jewellery is stored in pouches like these... organised into daily wear jewellery, gold pieces, special occasion necklaces, etc. storing them this way also means they are literally ready to grab-and-go when i am off travelling or going away for the weekend. i love this system, as i am not one to muck about 😅.

so this jewellery pouch serves as an ‘extra’ gift, to you, of goodwill and prosperity—a gift that has nothing to do with perfume, and EVERYTHING to do with beauty and sensuality (of which fragrance is so intrinsically linked) 🪷.

☀️ SEASON OF ST JOHN'S WORT ☀️

Words cannot adequately convey the deep joy I felt meeting St john's Wort (knowingly) in the wild for the first time. St John's Wort is a unique herb in that it *must* be worked with fresh, not dried — and as it didn't grow wild in my former environment on the NSW mid north coast, I had never worked with this beautiful plant. Instead, just patiently biding my time...

Until now! 😁 It has been a topsy turvy year to be sure, so many twists and turns — but I close out 2022 in deep awe and reverance for this new part of the land I join with — utterly bedazzled and entranced as I mingle with the wild medicines of this region and frolick in literal fields of St John's Wort and mullein 🤸

The summer solstice (which was yesterday), is the traditional time to set out with basket in hand and harvest this most magnificent bloom of solar essence. It's around this time that St John's Wort is juicy ripe with its coveted medicine — the "blood of St John" — or less poetically speaking, hypericin.

So I've been busy out with the bees in the sunshine foraging and harvesting, processing, tincturing and infusing. I plan to share a limited release of this season's St John's Wort tinctures and oil infusions when ready. No fancy labels — just the standard brown apothecary label and straight up locally wildcrafted medicine from me to you. So let me know if St John's Wort is calling you! 🔮

6. the same tincture within less than half an hour. see the beautiful red colour the liquid has turned? this is the ✨MAGIC✨ of st john's wort! it is a yellow flower, yet it bleeds bright red, vital blood. several days on, the tincture is now the deepest, ruby red colour — quite phenomenal to behold. i can't stop dancing 'round with glee — tincture jars in hand, marvelling at the majesty of this plant! 🕺
