Before language, connection leads the way…

• Regulation (feeling safe with a cuddle, calming with gentle rocking)
• Shared attention (eyes meeting over a toy, both watching bubbles float)
• Engagement (reaching for you in play, giggling together)
• Early gestures (pointing, waving, giving, reaching)
• Sound play (exclamatory sounds, cooing “ooo” and “ahh,” blowing raspberries)
• Imitation (copying your sounds, actions, and expressions)

These moments are the first conversations!
