🎉✨ Children’s Week is here! ✨🎉

Join us in celebrating the rights, voices and bright futures of our kids! 🙌🧒👧

🔹 This is a special time across Australia when we shine a light on the ways children learn, play, are heard and thrive.

🔹 It’s about recognising every child’s right to enjoy childhood, to contribute, and to be valued.

🔹 It’s anchored in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) — reminding us of all that children deserve dignity, opportunity and a voice.

👉 What we can do:

🔹Encourage kids to share their ideas, dreams and experiences — and listen.

🔹Make space for play, creativity and connection.

🔹Stand up for the rights of children, especially those facing disadvantage.

Celebrate their achievements — big and small.

🌟 Let’s make this Children’s Week meaningful: celebrate our children for who they are, what they can become, and the voices they hold.

This week, we join the nation in recognising and celebrating the 3 million carers across Australia — the parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and loved ones who provide care, compassion and strength every single day.

At Koorana, we see the love and dedication that carers bring to their families and communities. We understand the quiet moments of patience, the endless advocacy, and the courage it takes to show up — day after day — to support a child, young person or loved one to reach their full potential.

National Carers Week is a time to pause and say thank you. 💜 Thank you for your care, your resilience, and your endless commitment to the people you love.

We are proud to stand alongside you — celebrating your strength, acknowledging your challenges, and continuing to build a community that supports and values every carer.

Koorana is proud to announce that our CEO, Morgan A. Fitzpatrick, has been appointed to the Commonwealth’s Thriving Kids Advisory Group. This appointment reflects her outstanding leadership and commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for children and families across Australia.

Established by the Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Ageing, and the Minister Disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the Thriving Kids Advisory Group will bring together diverse expertise to shape and support the national design of Thriving Kids.

Thriving Kids will deliver a national system of supports outside the NDIS for children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and disability with low to moderate needs, and their families.

The Group, Co-Chaired by Minister Butler and Professor Frank Oberklaid AM, will consider findings from the NDIS Review, the Parliamentary Inquiry into Thriving Kids, national Foundational Supports consultations, and input from other sources.

Morgan has been appointed both in her professional capacity, and as a lived experience parent representative. She is committed to ensuring that her input to the Advisory Group advocates for a suite of supports for children and families which are universally accessible, timely, promote confidence and capability building of parents and caregivers, are supportive of the whole family’s needs, are aligned to best practice principles for early childhood intervention and are responsive to evolving needs which may change over time.

She will work alongside the other Advisory Group members to support this important piece of work.

Koorana thanks the Hon. Mark Butler fand Prof Frank Oberklaid AM for this opportunity.

Today is R U OK? Day, and at Koorana we believe in the power of connection. Asking “Are you okay?” can make all the difference.

If you’ve noticed a friend behaving differently, or you sense something’s weighing on them—take that gentle step and check in. A simple conversation does more than you realise.

Here’s how we can all help :

🔺Spot the signs: Changes in mood, behaviour, energy—trust your gut.

🔺Ask with kindness: Be relaxed, open, caring.

🔺Listen with an open heart—no judgement, no rush.

🔺Encourage action if needed—whether it’s doing something together or finding professional support.

🔺Follow up—sometimes that next check-in is what matters most.

💬 If you or someone you love is doing it tough, know you’re not alone. Reach out. It’s okay to talk.

Let’s hold space for each other. Let’s be the people who say it out loud: Are you okay?
