Group lessons, great advice :)
‼️THURSDAY TRAINING TIP‼️
My weekly tips and thoughts in the hope to help educate and inspire, as well as to create discussion within our ever changing equestrian industry.
🏇🏻CLINIC/GROUP LESSONS🏇🏻
This is a good one to get out there as I prepare myself for my upcoming 2 Day Cross Country Clinic starting tomorrow 😊
In my younger/less mindful days, I remember coming out of clinics and at times thinking “I didn’t get much out of it, someone had a problem and that was the focus of the lesson, I didn’t get much” and this is something I hear quite often from other riders.
My perspective nowadays is that “there is always something to learn” and I would love to alter the ‘closed mindset’ above that is still present in a lot of riders. I encourage all of my riders over the next 2 days to remain open and willing to learn from eachother. Your horse might go quite differently to the person next to you, however that doesn’t mean that the training process they are practicing might not be relevant to you down the track.
Naturally, as I am on the coaching side of the fence a lot more these days, I also respect the difficulty level of trying to juggle 4 riders and horses in 1.5 hours and ensure that they all receive adequate knowledge and practice! This is insanely challenging at times and believe me when I say that I always come home from a clinic and reflect on a lesson that I could’ve done a better job with. However this reflection sets me up for the next clinic and this mindfulness ensures that I can continue to grow to be a better coach for all of my riders.
Stay cool, stay humble, Happy Riding 💙 (wish me luck) 🤣
