Today is about something very real: making sure young LGBTQIA+ people know they’re seen, heard and valued for exactly who they are.

This year’s theme, Bold Voices, Bright Futures, is a reminder that the future isn’t shaped by words alone, it’s shaped by people who feel safe enough to speak, dream and belong. Our role? To keep creating spaces where that safety isn’t questioned.

So yes, we’ll wear it purple today. But more importantly, we’ll be listening, learning and standing alongside the next generation, because a brighter future doesn’t happen without them.

Last week we had the honour of being a finalist in the Be.Bendigo Business Excellence Awards.

We’re so proud to have been celebrated alongside so many inspiring local organisations doing amazing things in our community.

A big congratulations to this year’s winner in the not-for-profit category, Bendigo Theatre Company.

Thank you to Be.Bendigo and Bendigo Bank for celebrating the not-for-profit sector.

Tonight's the night!

We look forward to celebrating the 30th edition of these tremendous awards. Good luck to each and every finalist.

Today, we’re rolling out the red carpet for the biggest night in Bendigo’s business calendar – the 2025 Bendigo Bank and Be.Bendigo Bendigo Business Excellence Awards Gala. With a record-breaking 766 attendees and a completely sold-out event, we’re ready to celebrate local excellence like never before at Red Energy Arena Bendigo.

Incredible local talents have been working behind the scenes to bring the evening to life. From the seamless production by Power AV, creative support from Tough Cookie Marketing, flawless event coordination by Lost Cause Events, to the jaw-dropping experience designed by Simon Rosa Landscaping, this year’s gala promises to be unforgettable.

Our 30 Years of Golden Moments sponsor, Fosterville Gold Mine, is hosting a special pre-award celebration from 6pm. The perfect way to toast three decades of business excellence before the awards officially begin. Come dressed in your best and walk the Symes Motors BMW Red Carpet, then enter a spectacular garden crafted by Simon Rosa and his team that will transport you from the moment you arrive.

Make sure to smile for AJ and his team from Bendigo Photos, our official photographers and wave hello to Cogho & Jules from Triple M Bendigo, who will be capturing behind-the-scenes interviews throughout the evening for our socials. We’ll also be live sharing the excitement and winners across Facebook and Instagram stories, so be sure to follow along and tag . Plus, the The Bendigo Advertiser will once again be live-blogging the night as it unfolds.

We can’t wait to celebrate the 30th edition of the Business Awards with you. Let the countdown begin!

⏰ There's still time to have your say. Help us create a day that celebrates everyone! 🌈

Plans are underway for this year’s International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPwD), and we want your voice to guide the celebration.

Together with local groups, businesses, and people with lived experience, including people with disabilities, carers and neurodivergent community members, we’re shaping an event that truly represents Bendigo.

So, what would make it special for you?

A lively festival atmosphere?
Spaces for connection and conversation?
Music, theatre, food, art, or something we haven’t thought of yet?

Today is International Self-Care Day! 🌱

Self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s essential, especially for people living with disability, their families, and support workers. Practising self-care 24/7 helps us stay healthy, connected, and resilient.

Six years on from WHO’s first self-care guidelines, the focus remains the same: making health and wellbeing accessible for everyone.

Take a moment today to do something that supports your wellbeing, because caring for yourself helps you care for others too. 💙

NAIDOC Week 2025: On Dja Dja Wurrung Country.

This NAIDOC Week, we acknowledge that we live and work on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, and we pay deep respect to the Dja Dja Wurrung people the Traditional Owners of the land here in Bendigo and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” invites us to think not just about the future, but about how each of us plays a part in it.

At our recent GCSS all-staff gathering, we were fortunate to hear from a speaker from DJAARA, who reminded us that “Welcoming Country” is not just a formality, it’s a personal invitation to reflect on who we are, where we stand, and how we walk respectfully alongside First Nations people.

We carry that with us, not just this week, but always in the way we connect, listen, and support all people in our communities.

What a fantastic evening!

We had a great time at the Bendigo Bank and Be.Bendigo Business Excellence Awards Event last night as a finalist in the Not-for-Profit category for 2025.

It means a lot to be recognised alongside other incredible organisations making a difference across our region. For us, this is about more than recognition, it’s part of our commitment to being a not-for-profit that stands out in the sector and creates a lasting legacy in Bendigo and regional Victoria.

Congratulations and good luck to all the finalists, it’s inspiring to be in such good company.
