CARDIOLOGIST SPOTLIGHT - DR SINJINI BISWAS
Dr Biswas is an affiliate consultant cardiologist at CVC.
Dr Sinjini Biswas is an Interventional and Structural Cardiologist. She was awarded a scholarship to study medicine at The University of Melbourne, and completed her specialist cardiology training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Bendigo Health. She then received scholarships from the National Heart Foundation and National Health and Medical Research Council to undertake a PhD at Monash University. She completed fellowships in interventional cardiology at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Bristol Royal Infirmary, and was then employed as a consultant cardiologist at the Bristol Royal Infirmary for a few years, before returning to Victoria.
Dr Biswas specialises in the assessment of chest pain, performing complex coronary intervention with precision using intracoronary imaging, and the minimally-invasive treatment of aortic stenosis with transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). She is one of only a handful of female interventional cardiologists in Australia, and has a special interest in heart disease in women. She has received postdoctoral scholarships from the National Heart Foundation and European Society of Cardiology to support her ongoing involvement in research. She is regularly invited to speak at national and major international cardiology meetings, and has been internationally recognised by the American Society of Cardiovascular Intervention and British Cardiac Society through emerging leader awards.
