This week we kicked off R U OK Day celebrations at Weeroona College Bendigo highlighting this year's theme “Ask R U OK, any day”
Well done to the whole school community for making the day a huge success whilst taking the opportunity to connect and engage with each other.
Thank you to Fiona for coordinating the event each year and an extra big shout out to the students for being so engaging, respectful and polite to our team.
It was great to have Youth Ambassador Alyssa take part in the event alongside Britt-Social Work Student on placement, Briana-Mental Health Clinician and Haylee-CAE Worker.

Today marks World Su***de Prevention Day, a time dedicated to raising awareness, fostering change and providing support to all those with lived or living experience of su***de.

At headspace, we recognise the vital role that family, friends, schools and communities can have in helping a young person going through a tough time.

This year’s theme, Changing the Narrative of Su***de, is a reminder of how important it is to engage in open and honest discussions about su***de. Initiating these conversations can help break down stigma, raise awareness and create a culture of better understanding and support within communities.

Meet the team at headspace Bendigo. Youth Ambassador.

Name: Angus

Why should others become a Youth Ambassador?
If you want a chance to give back to other people or help out your community.🙏

I wanted to join the Youth Ambassador group to help other Neurodivergent people in Bendigo who haven’t had access to the same type of support networks I did.☺️

What are some opportunities you have had as a Youth Ambassador?
One opportunity I’ve had since becoming a Youth Ambassador is being able to meet with other like-minded people to discuss issues of great importance.🧍‍♀️🧍🧍‍♂️👫👭👬

What goals do you have to help the community?
I want to be able to help neurodivergent people who haven’t had the same opportunities that I had or the same level of access to good support networks that I had. 🙌

What are some valuable skills you have learnt from being a Youth Ambassador?
Putting myself out of my comfort zone. 👍🤝👏🙌✋.

We appreciate the support from our volunteers. Thank you for all that you do. 🙏🙌

WEAR IT PURPLE DAY POST 2

It was a busy week in the lead up to Wear It Purple Day 2025. We attended the La Trobe University Pride Day, Bendigo TAFE Wear It Purple Day celebrations and Friday night the Wear It Purple Day all Gendered Fashion Parade for youth, at the Bendigo Library
It was wonderful seeing young people enjoying the event at the Bendigo Library, joining in on the fashion parade, the limbo, Lip Sync Battles, Glitter Bar and so much more. It was a wonderful way to show support for LGBTIQA+ young people in our community.

Thank you to ADF (Alcohol and Drug Foundation – LDAT Program), CERSH (Centre of Rural Sexual Health), Bendigo Goldfields Libr@misspollyfilla headspace Bendigo and Bendigo Community Health Services for coming together and creating an event that was enjoyed by all who attended.

We are excited to announce that our Personal Training program is back at headspace Bendigo!! 👏👏👏

Initially funded for 3 years as a pilot program by Agnico Eagle Australia Community Partnership Program it proved so popular that we just had to keep it going – using our yearly Push Up Challenge Fundraiser we have been able to keep the Personal Training services of Matt - an integral part of the mental health and wellbeing supports we offer to young people!

Matt offers support around fitness, nutrition, and overall wellbeing. He not only talks with young people about how to fuel their bodies and look after themselves but also runs individual fitness sessions. 🍎🍐

These sessions can include strength training, cardio workouts, boxing, and more, giving young people the chance to move their bodies in ways that feel fun, supportive, and confidence-building. 🏃🏃‍♂️🧍‍♀️🧍👬👭

What makes Matt’s approach unique is his holistic style. 🙏🙏🙏
He knows that true wellness isn’t just about exercise but about finding balance.
He helps young people explore gentle changes that can make a big difference in their everyday lives, and he brings his counselling background to weave together both mind and body approaches.
This means the support he offers isn’t just physical but also about mental health, resilience, and creating positive long-term habits. 🙌🙌🙌

headspace is here for all young people and families in Australia.

We know that current events in the news right now can feel distressing, especially for multicultural young people, families and communities.

If you or the young person in your life is feeling unsettled, unwelcome, or like your identity is being questioned, know that you are not alone. You deserve to feel safe, respected and supported — always.

If your young person needs support, we encourage you over the coming days to:

💚 Connect with your trusted community, cultural traditions and engage in collective healing practices that help you and your young person feel strong.

💚 Connect with your local headspace centre > https://headspace.org.au/headspace-centres

💚 Access free support online and over the phone through eheadspace > https://headspace.org.au/online-and-phone-support/connect-with-us

💚 Explore our Strength in My Roots resources, which celebrate the resilience of multicultural young people and the power of culture, community and identity > https://headspace.org.au/our-impact/campaigns/cultural-identity

You can also find more resources designed to help families and friends support the mental health and wellbeing of young people at https://headspace.org.au.

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of attending Bendigo to support Alfie, Ruby and Max with the mental health component for their project. 👏

It was a fantastic way to provide information about the headspace services available face to face and online.

Well done to the 3 super star teams that answered all of the headspace questions correct for the trivia challenge. 🙌🙌🙌

Well done to Amy-headspace Youth Ambassador for attending your first event and a big shout out to Molly-La Trobe University OT student for your support.💚💚💚
