📢 What is Thriving Kids?

Big news from the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme last week! Minister Mark Butler MP has announced a $2 billion programme called Thriving Kids.

Thriving Kids will focus on children aged under eight with mild to moderate developmental delay or autism who are not eligible for the NDIS.

What we know so far is that the programme will expand existing services such as child and maternal health, GPs, playgroups, early learning, schools, and online or phone support. The final design is still being worked out between the Australian Government and state and territory governments.

We expect this news will affect some of Lifely’s youngest participants and their families. However, no changes are expected before the programme starts in July 2026. Until then, our services for children aged 0–8, like Awesome Kids and Super Saturdays, will keep running as normal. Families don’t need to do anything for their support to continue.

Lifely is following these updates closely and will keep our community informed as more information is shared.

🎉 End of Season Breakup! 🎉

What. A. Season! 💥 We wrapped up another incredible year of Netball For All with a final game that had everything — energy, excitement, and a finish that kept everyone on the edge of their seats! 🙌

Our last match went right down to the wire, with Team Blue pulling off a thrilling 2-point win in the dying seconds! 🔥 A huge shoutout to all the players who gave it their all — what a way to end the season!

But beyond the scoreboard, it was the spirit of the game that truly made this season unforgettable. ❤️ From the first whistle to the final high-five, every player, volunteer, supporter, and coach brought passion, positivity, and a whole lot of heart to the court.

🚒 Behind the Scenes at Bendigo Fire Station! 🔥

Last week, the Our Choice crew geared up for an adventure with a visit to the Bendigo Fire Station. Guided by Fireman Kurt and Firewoman Bec, we got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be a firefighter. From trying on firefighting gear to checking out the fire trucks, our participants were full of questions and burning with curiosity.

The CFA team was nothing short of incredible — generous with their time, passionate about fire safety, and more than happy to share their knowledge (and a few laughs along the way). 😄👏

Not only did we learn how firefighters keep our communities safe, but we also picked up important fire safety tips that could help us all stay prepared. 🧯✅

🎨 A Day of Fun, Friendship & Illusion at ArtVo! ✨

Our Sibling Social Group recently stepped into a world of imagination and creativity at ArtVo Melbourne – Australia’s first immersive ‘trick-art’ gallery located in Docklands! 🖼️📸

This engaging excursion brought together children aged 7 to 15, offering a fun and creative space to connect with peers who share similar caregiving experiences. The visit gave them the chance to build friendships, and an opportunity to share stories in a supportive and imaginative environment. 💙

From walking through optical illusions to posing with larger-than-life artworks, the day was filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Most importantly, it offered a safe space for the group to connect and support one another. 🤝
