🌟 Renmark Day Trip Adventures! 🌟

On Saturday, 18 April, Eve, Belinda, Bianca, Darcy and Harley enjoyed a fantastic day trip to Renmark, supported by Jasmine, Annette and Mark.

The group visited the Olivewood Historic Homestead, browsed local op shops, enjoyed lunch at the Renmark Club, and treated themselves to doughnuts and ice cream 🍩🍦

During the day, participants chose activities to work towards their goals. They built friendships and social skills, practiced money management and independence, and most importantly, everyone had fun! 😊

🎉 Supanova Fun! 🎉

On Saturday 18 April, Hailea went to Supanova Comic Con & Gaming with Ella’s support.

Together, they worked towards Hailea's goals of meeting new people, trying new things and building confidence outside her usual routine.

The highlights were meeting her favourite pop-culture characters and exploring the comics and merchandise.

Hailea had a fantastic time and is already keen to go again next year.

🌟 Celebrating a milestone in community connection 🌟

This week, we celebrate Jess’s five years volunteering at The Salvation Army Australia in Kangaroo Flat. 👏

This milestone shows Jess is reaching her goal of being part of her community. Lifely’s one-on-one support helps with transport and builds her confidence so she can keep volunteering in her community.

Well done, Jess; a fantastic achievement and a wonderful example of community participation 💙

🌺 Lest We Forget 🌺

Today we stop to remember the bravery and sacrifice of Australian service men and women.
We honour veterans, those currently serving in the Australian Defence Force, and the families who support them. We remember not only those who lost their lives, but also those who returned home with physical injuries, disability, trauma or ongoing mental health challenges because of their service.

We also recognise that war and conflict affect innocent civilians around the world. Many people live with loss, trauma and lifelong disability as a result. 🌏

Today, we remember them all. ❤️

We started our new Level Up gaming group this week 🎮

It was great to meet our first four participants. We set the vibe for the group and jumped straight into some old-school games. It was relaxed, fun, and a great way to start building connections.

Level Up is a weekly two-hour after-school group for kids and teens with disability or who are neurodivergent. It runs at Mill House Neighbourhood House Maryborough. NDIS funding is not required.

It is a safe, supported place where they can have fun. Meanwhile, their parents and carers get regular breaks to rest or get things done, knowing their young person is safe with trained, screened staff.

More than just screen time, this group helps young people build:

✅ Social skills
✅ Confidence
✅ Teamwork
✅ Online safety

The group runs weekly during the school term, with new spots each term. A great option for young people who may not feel comfortable in other after-school activities.

✨ Thank you to our first group who joined us on 21 April. We loved having you.

Spots for terms three and four are filling up fast.

Luke has made significant progress toward his goal of managing large crowds and travelling back to Melbourne. ✨

Since moving to Bendigo in 2024, Luke has found large crowds and travelling back to Melbourne challenging.

With appropriate supports in place, he has gradually built his confidence by first becoming familiar with Bendigo and then undertaking regular train trips to the Melbourne CBD. He recently attended Supanova Comic Con & Gaming which was an amazing experience.

He has already planned to attend Animaga, a convention that celebrates anime, manga, cosplay and gaming in August with support staff.

This is a great achievement and a testament to Luke’s hard work and commitment.

🌤️🎣 A Fantastic Day Out 🎣🌤️

With the right support and beautiful weather on his side, Bill enjoyed a rewarding day out by the water!
By spending time engaged in one of his passions, fishing, Bill worked towards his NDIS goals of building independence, increasing community access, and supporting his desire to increase his fitness and stay physically active.

Spending time outdoors in nature, doing something he loves, gave Bill the opportunity to build skills, stay active, and boost his wellbeing and self-confidence. 🌊✨

Keep on reeling them in, Bill!

Your GP and specialist doctors are a key part of your National Disability Insurance Scheme journey, but it is not always clear what information or documents the scheme needs from them 🩺

This blog walks through the different types of doctors who may be involved in your care and explains, in plain English, the kinds of medical evidence and reports they can provide for access requests and plan reviews.

At the same time, parents and carers are supported too, with the opportunity to take a break, have a cuppa, meet other carers, or simply enjoy some time knowing their young person is engaged and supported.

The program uses shared equipment including a PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, laptops, and iPads, with a focus on inclusion, connection, and skill‑building, not just screen time.
