Persistent pain can increase your risk of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Persistent pain is a complex and multifaceted condition affecting each individual in a unique manner, with pain at the forefront. Dietary intervention may allow individuals living with pain to have an active role in the management of their condition.

Persistent pain can include pain alongside fatigue, disturbed sleep and a combination of poor memory and poor concentration. There is also a high prevalence of many co-morbidities, including anxiety, depression, migraines and irritable bowel syndrome. Pain can reduce overall quality of life by impacting sleep, cognitive ability, mental health problems which can impact work capacity, social time with friends and family. It’s proven that major symptom of depression is withdrawal from your social life.

CHRONIC PAIN IS SMASHING SOCIETY: RELATIONSHIPS AND PRODUCTIVITY AT RISK DUE TO WIDESPREAD CHRONIC PAIN

The 2024 National Pain Survey of nearly 2600 people living with chronic pain has found that pain doesn’t just affect the person living with the condition; it affects our entire economy and society.

People living with chronic pain often say that the pain “colours their world” – with 3.6 million people living with chronic pain, this invisible condition is colouring the world of many families.
