Martin Carnovale

Martin is a registered psychologist. Martin’s background includes working as a psychologist for TAFE NSW, and Dooralong Transformation Centre. In addition, He had experience in private practice and had completed training in both Trauma and Domestic Violence with a special interest in these areas as well as the treatment of depression and anxiety in late adolescence adults of all ages.

Martin's natural style is pretty direct, he is naturally optimistic and finds the use of humour really useful in therapy. Martin had a strong commitment to creating an environment where his clients feel heard and genuinely supported in addressing their concerns.
Martin uses therapeutic techniques that help clients to develop and maintain the knowledge, skills, and motivation that are needed for them to achieve lasting change. Doing so has the benefit of providing people with a framework and strategies that can then be used to tackle other challenging aspects of their lives. Martin’s aim of treatment is to provide a safe, supportive atmosphere in which to develop growth for his clients. Martin prefers to empower his clients to affect their own change using evidence-based therapeutic models of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and exposure therapy. Martin believes in tailoring therapy to meet the individual’s needs, and emphasises flexibility in his treatment approach to best match his clients and ensure they are meeting their goals for treatment.
