Today, Palm Lake Care CEO Daniel Aitchison and Board Chair Maryann Curry visited our Toowoomba community for a 'Tea Talk', part of an ongoing series across all of our communities. These small, informal conversations allow us to speak to residents, families and representatives to ensure that Palm Lake Care is guided by real feedback – from the people who matter most. We appreciate these opportunities to hear your thoughts, answer questions, and find out how we can continue to improve.

What an absolute joy it was for our Palm Lake Care Toowoomba residents (and staff!) to watch incubated eggs hatch and these gorgeous, fluffy chicks arrive. The busy little birds have been such delight for our community! 🐣

Meet Tilly Middleton. She's a Personal Care Assistant at Palm Lake Care Caloundra, and was our Employee of the Month back in July. Tilly started out her career in hospitality and retail before joining us at Palm Lake Care Caloundra, where she now spends her days helping and caring for the residents.

Tilly says her favourite part of the job is talking with the residents and learning about their lives. She finds the conversations interesting and learns a lot about them. In her downtime, Tilly enjoys time with her family and friends, generally outdoors at one of our inviting Sunshine Coast beaches. Something residents might not know about Tilly is that she is only 18 years old and she has danced for 15 years!

Her advice to anyone considering starting a career in aged care: do it! “It’s great, and you learn heaps!” she says.

Our Palm Lake Care Deception Bay residents loved their recent community support activity, baking and delivering cookies for The Breakfast Club Redcliffe Inc. This local community food and housing support system serves over 1000 meals a month, so we were happy to show them a small token of our appreciation. We love our community ❤️

Spending time with animals can bring enormous comfort and joy to seniors - which is why our Palm Lake Care Bethania residents were so delighted when Winnie the dog came to visit! 🐕❤️ Pet therapy has been shown to ease feelings of loneliness, reduce stress and even lower blood pressure. Gentle interactions - like patting a dog or watching a cat play - can spark happy memories, encourage movement, and provide a sense of companionship. For many older adults, these moments of connection make each day feel a little brighter and more meaningful.

MEET US, ON MONDAYS...

Welcome to our regular Monday morning post where we help you get to know the people who make up the rich fabric that is Palm Lake Care. Today, let us introduce you to Heather Lee, one of our beloved Palm Lake Care Caloundra residents.

Heather came to live at Palm Lake Care Caloundra just after we opened. Heather was born in England and lived in South Australia before moving to Townsville. She ran a successful party hire business for over 10 years up in Townsville.

Heather was married and had three girls, and now has eight beloved grandchildren. Heather enjoys seeing the visiting entertainers at the Palm Lake Care “Coffee Club events”, as well as knitting. She loves the comfortable amenities in her community and the friendships she has made (especially her close friend, Betty Selleck).

Heather's advice to young people is simple: "Don't do drugs or alcohol. And behave yourselves!"

Palm Lake Care Beachmere recently hosted a lovely pop-up market event 🛍️ It was a collaboration with residents of Palm Lake Resort Beachmere Sands and offered a wide variety of creative handmade items available for purchase.

“We enjoyed our morning with many laughs, chats and lookers,” Sands homeowner and Gift Shop volunteer Jenny said. “It gave many people an opportunity to see our lovely craft.”
