We're a crafty bunch! Our Palm Lake Care Bargara residents love a good craft session - especially when rainbow stickers are involved 🌈 Craft is a great way to maintain our fine motor movement, stay socially connected and (literally) brighten our day!

You don't need to go to the Brisbane Showgrounds to enjoy the Ekka! Here at Palm Lake Care Deception Bay, we tried all the quintessential Ekka activities - from patting barnyard animals to chowing down on strawberry sundaes, shopping for showbags and even enjoying the Ekka show with fireworks. What fun!

One of our dedicated Palm Lake Care Deception Bay PCAs, Kristie Atkins, is walking 'All Night Long' in support of Ronald McDonald House! Every day is a marathon for sick children and their families, but thanks to the generosity of people like Kristie, we can all help lighten the load. On October 25, Kristie and Brett Atkins will be walking 42 kilometres around Brisbane's CBD, overnight - raising much needed funds for Children's Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House in the process. The countdown to Aged Care Employee Day is on 🗓️🩵 Taking place this Thursday, August 7, Aged Care Employee Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary people who care for our residents with skill, compassion and heart.

We strongly believe that every birthday deserves a party - especially your 100th! Palm Lake Care Caloundra's first centenarian, Nellie, rang in her 100th birthday with a celebration befitting of such a major milestone. Flowers, balloons and banners adorned our dining room, which was filled with Nellie's nearest and dearest. A major highlight was the video made by Nellie's granddaughter! Congratulations, Nellie, on 100 laps around the sun 🎈🎂

MEET US, ON MONDAYS...

Welcome to our regular Monday morning post where we help you get to know the people who make up the rich fabric that is Palm Lake Care. Today, let us introduce you to Helen, one of our dedicated Registered Nurses at Palm Lake Care Deception Bay...

Before nursing, Helen spent 12 years in early childhood education. These days, she ensures medications are given on time and supports residents' health alongside our broader care team.

Her favourite part of the job? Sharing stories and laughs with residents. Outside of work, Helen is a keen runner preparing for not one, but two marathons – and she’s also been dancing ballroom and Latin since she was 16!

Her advice for anyone considering aged care: “Go for it! Learn from the residents – they have so much wisdom to share.”
