This one made me laugh really loud

Sometimes life stacks up on top of itself and before you know it, 5 years have passed.

Personally, it feels like a time warp happened after COVID and it was 2022 yesterday. What even happened to those other years?

Relatable?

Has your health suffered as a result of this time warp like so many others?

What about your hobbies and the things that make life joyful?

Have you been nose to the grindstone just trying to get it done and just now looked up to see things don't seem like they used to?

Sometimes we need a circuit breaker to get us back on track and aligned with where we want to be.

Often for people it's injury, health issues or chronic pain that make them look up and realize they're off course.

Sometimes is a health issue of a family member or someone you love that makes you look at your own life with different eyes.

When you're in the thick of a painful issue, it can be hard to see it as an opportunity but I've never met an injury that didn't have a silver lining.

Whether it's course correction, important lessons learned, important people met or finally doing the things you put off for another day, there's always something.

Sunset Yoga & Nature Immersion on the Bibbulmun Track

Imagine a golden afternoon on the Bibbulmun Track, the sunlight filtering through tall trees as you’re guided on a gentle walk and nature immersion practice by the wonderful Hannah Demerise (.hannah ), author of .

We’ll wander through the bush, slow down with intention, and reconnect with nature, led by someone who knows how to help you feel grounded, present, and calm.

After our walk, we’ll settle onto the Golden View platform, with sweeping views over the Mundaring Weir. As the sun dips behind the hills, we’ll move into a gentle, all-abilities yoga session, accompanied by the songs of evening birds. Expect a blend of soft movement and stillness to ease you into rest.

Bliss.

It shouldn't always be easy but if there's never a sense of ease... It's not right for me.

I'll be honest, the only way I could stop and listen to my intuition was my body shutting down in an allergic inflammatory storm... Again. Then giving myself a disk bulge in my back. 🤦‍♀️

My doctor told me he only sees this kind of reaction in people who are chronically stressed. I was like- well I'm a small biz owner, it's just the way it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do a LOT of things to regulate my nervous system. I take really really good care of myself. I had fantastic business coaches at the time. Ultimately they were helping me pursue a dream that I didn't really want, and the thought of what I had to do to get there left me feeling bored, unexcited and stressed.

Then I realised- it's NOT just the way it is, it's just a path I decided I had to relentlessly pursue and I'm not even sure why.

Because everyone else is chasing big dreams? Because even though I have enough, I'm told I should want more? Was I trapped in a capitalist nightmare? 😱😱😱😱

So anyway I'm back to flying solo as a physio with the support of Jacinta, our admin hero 😇

I'm on a trip to Melbourne to support my family and will be back to seeing patients from July 7.

We get one precious life, don't spend it walking on the wrong path 🦎

A winter hike?!?! I hear you exclaim!

Hear me out.

The days are the perfect temperature for walking

The mornings are beautiful, still and crisp

There's no Perth weather a warm up of hot chocolate or tea can't fix

The sunrises! Oh the sunrises

The novelty of being a little cold but it's fine because we get moving and warm up quickly

My gosh. Winter overnight hikes are special here in the west.

There aren't many spots left thanks to some keen bean early birds so get in quick.

If you don't have all the gear let me know. There's nothing I love more than to enable new hikers and I have some things I can lend.

There is a small cost to pay for park entry fees but otherwise just bring yourself, your hiking gear and be ready to meet some new adventurous pals in one of the most stunning hiking spots in Perth

If you're curious and want more info before you commit, let me know.

I'm really excited for this one!!

Ever wanted to try bouldering but felt a little unsure?

It's Easter! We're ready to let our hair down and get a little silly and muddy!

Who's joining us for this month's social meetup, the XLR8 Obstacle course?

I'm really excited for this one.

Race if you want or just come for the giggles.

The course is suitable for all fitness levels and for all ages from 12 years so get the family into it too!

Bookings are essential and payment is made to XLR8.

Also.... You asked as we listened. Take a peep at the last slide to see what else is planned this year.

There are a few events on here that might require some training.

In June we have our beginners' overnight hike on the Yonga Trail. This was an absolute hit last year when we did a section of the Bibbulmum Track. This year, we're getting expressions of interest early as campsites do book out ahead of time. This is one of the most stunning trails in Perth, one I've done multiple times when I need a quick hit of nature.

In August we're putting together a team for the City to Surg for both the 4km and a 12km distances. Pick your challenge!

In October we're banding together with AOK Keep Moving to do the Margaret River Coastrek Challenge (https://www.facebook.com/events/961908749316555). 20km of coastal walking is definitely out of my comfort zone but for a great cause, with great people.

My gosh! Looking at that list of adventures has gotten me quite excited.

Let me know if you're interested in joining any of them or want more information. If you're adventure curious but feeling nervous, I'm so happy to chat through the possibilities and how we can work towards getting you out of your comfort zone with the best support.

Our next Adventure Physio meetups is coming up quickly!

This one's a family and beginner friendly, injury and rehab friendly (mostly) lovely walk in the park!

We might even hunt down a Geocache if there's one in the park.

If you or a friend have been curious about exploring some of the more accessible hiking and walking tracks around Perth, this is the one for you!

On Saturday 29th, we'll enjoy a nice walk in Settlers Common.

Follow the link to book in (no cost, it's just to keep track of numbers)

See you there!

I think about this quote a lot.

I first read this book when I was 20 and it was the first time I came across this idea, however a bit of research shows it likely predates the book.

There are so many ways that life can feel heavy and we can buy into the suffering that pain can bring.

Pain will happen to us all, but the way we approach it, experience it, learn from it and use it as a tool can completely alter pain's meaning in our lives.

I'm not perfect here by any means. It's an ongoing practice for me to not buy into the story of suffering through my painful experiences.

I've had many mentors show me this in the past. My favorite catch phrase that I learned through
Is "what if it was easy, what if it was simple" which helps me find some lightness in my struggles. It reminds me that a lot of the difficulties I experience are a story I've decided to believe and if I look at it a different way, there is a different path.

When I injured my knee last year and started to prematurely grieve my roller derby career that had barely started, reminded me that the path through this obstacle would cement my commitment to doing something I loved that brought me joy. It was an opportunity to dig deep and prove to myself that I could overcome, that the rewards I would gain would be so much more delicious for having worked hard for them.

My 2 week solo Larapinta Trail hike was full of difficulty- hiking alone through the desert with a 20+kg pack after living in a town with no hiking opportunities for a year. Once I finished that I knew I could do anything I put my mind to and the empowerment has stayed with me since. It was also the most blissful and soul cleansing experience of my life. It was painful but I didn't suffer.

This week .coaching shined a mirror again on my suffering story that wasn't really true. Things are hard and painful, yes. But it's seeped in opportunity, growth, excitement, adrenaline, all things that make me feel alive.

Here's an invitation for you: what is painful, hard, uncomfortable for you right now and how can you look at it without suffering? Where's the opportunity?

Good luck 💚

It’s 2025- the age of AI bots, computer-generated everything, and an ever-growing sense of disconnection.

It’s getting harder to trust what we see online, which makes real-life experiences more important than ever.

I started these social meetups for a selfish reason: growing Adventure Physio left me feeling disconnected from the world, and I needed to fix that.

I know others are in the same boat.

For me to feel like a whole, happy human, I need to move my body, feel strong, get my regular dose of adventure, and spend time with like-minded people.

If that resonates with you, these meetups are for you. We get outside, we do something fun, we connect with good people, and sometimes, we top it off with delicious food.

The four essential ingredients for a great time, IMHO.

The February Adventure Physio meeting is stand up paddleboarding in Rockingham on Saturday 22nd.

Bookings are essential but you can pay on the day. No cost if you bring your own paddleboard.

As long as you can swim, you're welcome to join us whether you've been to Adventure Physio or not in the past.

We expect to spend about 2 hours in the water and might grab a coffee after.

I'm really excited about this one, it's our first water based Meetup for those who aren't as hiking obsessed as me 🏄🏼‍♀️
