Adventure Physio is a clinic located in Bibra Lake, Perth. At the time this is written it is a small two person team With Stephanie Lock, the principal physio and Jacinta, our Admin Hero. This will probably change from time to time but who knows that the future looks like.

Quality of care is the most important thing for Adventure Physio.

We’re not aiming to become a big chain with heaps of practitioners. Staying small keeps us nimble. It means we can take the time to listen properly, spend a little longer when someone needs it, and make decisions based on care, not KPIs.

We blend physiotherapy skills, strength and conditioning, pilates, osteopathic visceral manipulation and functional neurology to get to the heart of your issue.

Steph is an adventure lover and movement nerd. She’s dabbled in a lot of different sports in her life but she can never shake her love of (scaled) crossfit workouts, running, rock climbing and bikes in any format- commuting, MTB, long distance etc.

Steph studied to be a physio in 3 different states, earning an undergraduate degree in Human Biosciences (Anatomy and Physiology) and a Masters of Physiotherapy.

She also spent 3 years studying photography- for anyone whose wondering, yes that’s 9.5 years of study in total.

These days Steph is still an absolute nerd and loves watching her deep knowledge of anatomy come to life while helping people with their movement and pain problems.

She has done further studies in Visceral Manipulation, Functional Neurology, Strength and Conditioning and Pilates.

In her personal life, you’ll find Steph where the 4 essentials for happiness are: nature, good food, good people and moving her body outside. Bonus points if her partner and Great Dane, Annie are there.

We look at things in a holistic way, knowing that everything in the body is connected.

We’re passionate about exercise based rehab but we’re also very hands on in treating.

A session might include massage, dry needling, joint manipulation, or taping. We may also explore whether an organ (like your stomach or lungs) is contributing to your issue, or whether your vestibular system, balance, or eye movements are part of the picture.

It’s highly likely we’ll talk to you about some deeper stuff. We’ll look into any beliefs about your injury or pain which might be getting in the way of recovery, how you’re dealing emotionally with the issue you’ve come in for, what stress management looks like for you and we’ll assist you in taking steps for lasting behavior change if that’s a struggle for you.

It’s hard for a stressed out, unregulated nervous system to heal and sometimes we have to take care of that first.

And if you need support beyond physio, we refer to other health practitioners and services and have a great network of trusted providers from surgeons to psychologists, personal trainers and massage therapists.

One of the biggest frustrations people share with us is knowing WHAT they should do to heal, recover, perform better, or just have a well rounded and healthy life, but they struggle with HOW to make it happen.

That’s where our Fortify Rehab classes shine. Capped at four people, each person works through their own program designed by physios with further training in strength & conditioning, Pilates, and rehab.

We also train ourselves- we know how to make time in the gym more enjoyable for the people who aren’t “gym people.”

Here’s what you get:
- A set time to show up (built-in accountability)
- A physio supervising, guiding, and adjusting your program as needed
- A small group of people working towards their own goals alongside you
- A program that progresses over time so you can keep building strength and confidence

People join us for different reasons: to rebuild after injury, stay strong for their adventures, prevent old injuries returning, or simply have the accountability and expert support to keep moving forward.

You’ll love these classes if you:
- Are actively rehabbing an injury and want extra support
- Want to start strength training but aren’t sure where to begin (we see you, runners & cyclists 👀)
- Are focused on long-term health, bone density, and staying strong as you age
- Love the accountability of a group environment
- Want to train without having to overthink what to do or how to do it properly

One of our favourite things is getting out into the community, giving talks, running workshops, and chatting all things health and adventure.

No group is too small- a lunchtime workshop of how to prevent injuries at work? A longer workshop where we practice self care skills, exercises, warm ups and stretches? We’re there.

We’ve previously run workshops called Hiking SOS: what to do when things go wrong and Hike Strong: injury prevention for hikers.

We love talking about hiking, running, mountain biking, walking, adventuring and how to feel good at work so you can make the most of your time out of work.

Our mission: Helping people imagine and live a vibrant, healthy life, full of possibility.

We care about more than just bodies.

The strongest predictor of long term health and longevity isn’t exercise or diet, it’s meaningful social connection.

While we’re first and foremost a physio clinic, there are so many facets to health that don’t involve just the body. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the biggest anatomy nerd in the world and I love helping people get out of pain and improve their movement and function.

As well as helping people recover with physio, we also support them in moving toward lives that feel meaningful for themselves and their loved ones

We care a lot about helping people imagine a and live a life that fits them and their passions and interests, rather than going with the flow.

We think pretty deeply about things, and help people to ask the important questions about living a meaningful life for them and their loved ones.

We support them to make and maintain healthy social connections with others.

To move from being stagnant to being proactive about the life they dream of.

For us, supporting our physio clients is the best job and a huge honor.

We get to dive deep into anatomy, share our passions, and help people understand their own bodies. We see people at some of their hardest times, and walk with them until they’re thriving again.

We’re there to support people who just want to make good change in their lives to be the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves that they can be.

We support people to do what means the most to them, be it running across WA, getting back to work or playing with their kids without pain and movement limitations.

Since October 2022, we’ve been happily based inside Transpire Health & Fitness in Bibra Lake. We have full access to the gym, as well as a beautiful private room to work from when needed.

Transpire Fitness is one of those gyms which are full of really great people. It’s a safe place for people who don’t feel at home at other bigger gyms. It has all the equipment you need, a quiet space to stretch or foam roll, a large empty space for floor work and group classes and an infrared sauna. It has a shower and a disabled toilet but unfortunately no ramp access for wheelchairs.

Bibra Lake is a fantastic place to work from too. We’re so lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful green spaces like lakes and parks. We’ve got Perth’s best coffee and bakery at All Grain Artisan Bakery AND Perth best Banh Mi at Bibra Lake Lunch Bar, Both just behind the gym.

It’s a rapidly growing area, with new families and people moving in all the time- sure, we’ve been known to have a m**h lab or two within 10km of us blow up but that was over a decade ago!

Things have truly changed here and we love our south of the river home. Wedged between the ocean and the hills, its an adventurers delight.

We’re all about helping people live a vibrant, healthy life and social media drains me of those important things.

- I don’t enjoy it. I takes time and attention I don’t enjoy giving, that takes away from the quality of service I can provide my clients, as well as other forms of marketing that I DO enjoy

- The personal costs have been outweighing the benefits for a long time now, but I’ve been too scared to walk away in case my business collapses without it

- It affects my mental health too much, as well as most other users. We have pretty good evidence that social media is a big contributor to the high youth su***de rates, as well the the increase in depression and anxiety of all age groups

- This horrific story of a Meta chatbot that invited a man to meet in person, leading to his death. https://youtube.com/shorts/edMDCllovwY?si=LVM1l3adTTAlOPKa

- No one is holding these giant corporations to account and they don’t appear to be taking any steps to mitigate the cost to people’s lives

- The algorithms don’t support me in actually reaching the people I can help with my services- 3% of people who have opted in to see what I have to say by following me see what I post. This service doesn’t support me, why am I continuing to support it?
