That first step out of bed in the morning — the one that makes you wince the moment your heel hits the floor. Sound familiar?

That's often plantar fasciitis. And unfortunately, it's one of those conditions that can really drag on if it's not managed well.

The plantar fascia is a thick band of connective tissue running along the base of your foot. When it becomes overloaded — whether from activity, footwear, or biomechanics — it can become inflamed and sensitised, making those first steps of the day pretty miserable.
The good news is there are a number of approaches that can help, and one we use here at Osteophi is Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT).

So what is it? In its essence, shockwave therapy delivers mechanical pressure waves into the tissue.

Research suggests this can:

Stimulate tissue repair and remodelling
Help reduce localised inflammation
Desensitise the area over time

It's typically applied directly over the heel and along the plantar fascia, and is often used as part of a broader management plan — which highlights that no single tool works in isolation. We'll always pair it with load management strategies and exercise to build tissue capacity for the long haul.

Growing up playing football and futsal sparked my passion for movement and the human body. After shadowing an osteopath, I saw how hands-on treatment combined with exercise could truly change lives — and I knew I’d found my path.
I love helping patients take control of their own health, especially when treating neck pain, sports injuries, and through tailored rehab programs.
Outside the clinic, you’ll find me in the gym, on the football field, or hiking the Glasshouse Mountains.
