The wonderful team of Doctors & Staff at Lifetime Health Medical Centre this week went all out in pink, promoting Breast Cancer Awareness.
The team hosted a lovely morning tea whilst providing patients and visitors to the centre with important breast cancer awareness resources and information.

The LONG Run final wrap....

What an amazing outcome for the teams of Lifetime Health Medical Centre & sister practice Apollo General Practice.

The teams finished the month of September with a whopping 504.7 klm and raised $465.00 in support of The Long Run prostate awareness initiative 👟👟

Whilst the teams were quick to send out an internal challenge, it was clear they were all behind and encouraging each other to exceed the 75klm target, smashing this in the first week.
A great achievement, well done!

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a type of energy produced by the sun and a natural source of vitamin D. It can't be felt or seen like you may think. 🤨

Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world so it's no wonder UV radiation is responsible for over 95% of skin cancers.

When your skin is unprotected from the sun, UV radiation can damage your DNA. If the body can't repair this damage, the cell can divide and grow in an uncontrolled way. This growth eventually forms a tumour that can be cancerous. 🧬

Using the UV Index, the amount of UV radiation can be measured. In Queensland, it's high all year round so protection from the sun is vital to prevent skin damage.

When you venture outside next, remember to:
🧥 slip on protective clothing
🧴 slop on SPF30+ or higher sunscreen
👒 slap on a broad-brimmed hat
⛱ seek shade
🕶 slide on close-fitting wrap-around sunglasses.

The LONG Run ** Progress Report**
What a way to start the week...

We have nearly reached the halfway mark in supporting the LONG run prostate awareness initiative.

The Staff & Doctors have been extremely active in getting those joggers on and racking up the klm in support of the initiative.

At the (almost) halfway mark, we have a strong lead by the nursing teams... they have been pounding the pavement!

Our Admin & Doctors are ever so slightly behind, racking up those klm too.

Our teams have collectively completed 196.8 klm and raised $394 to date.
Such an amazing effort by all!

Applying your sunscreen before you leave your house is great. 👍
Re-applying every 2 hours is even better! 👏

Sunscreen can be easily wiped off or lost through sweating. You should re-apply sooner than 2 hours, if you've been sweating or swimming. 🏊‍♂️

Sunscreen is not a suit of armour. Always remember to:
👚 Slip on a shirt
👒 Slap on a broad-brimmed hat
🌳 Seek shade
🕶️ Slide on some sunglasses.

The teams at Lifetime Health Medical Centre & Apollo General Practice are excited to be participating this year in The Long Run, supporting and raising awareness for Prostate Cancer.

The challenge will run for the month of September.

Initially, our team were aiming to complete the 72km run, walk or wheel collectively; however many of the Staff & Dr's have set themselves the challenge of completing the 72km individually also.
