Hello gentle ones π€β¨π€
Wishing you all much love
Today on a walk I was blessed to be joined by a gorgeous Grandma in Spirit, thank you darling Nicky for bringing her through
She shared and showed me some lovely things.
I came away from our walk together with not only a message for her beloved grandchild (who yes may be one of you if what she shares feels and resonates with you) but for all Grandchildren all the world over. She was so lovely, filled with love and with an abundance of it which she gives to you all now...
I came home from my walk filled like I had just spent a glorious afternoon with my own beloved utterly adored Nanna, it filled my heart, it filled my soul, it filled my cup π (hehehe you will see why the winky face when you get to her message for you at end...)
She showed me herself in her kitchen, she calls it a haven of love of safety it feels like a big warm hug and is filled with incredible baking smells...
She was having a "Jam/Marmalade" Bake fest...
The kitchen was filled with oranges and a smaller fruit that when I peered in more closely she held up for me to smell also showing me the tree that used to grace my childhood home.
Urghhhh Cumquats I said to her!!!! She laughed and said you sound just like my grandchildren, that is why I also have oranges and apricots here AND why I also make jams not just marmalade, as there is some wrinkling up of faces with a that "ooh yuk I don't like this one Gran" when I give them marmalade or anything made with cumquats...
"I don't understand it myself" she went on to say, "there is something quite special about dipping into Cumquat Jam or Marmalade..." she smiled as she said it. I said to her well there will be plenty left for you as nooooooo way will I let the taste of a cumquat pass these lips, just the smell of the fruit on my fingers makes me go blurghhhhh...
She laughed, she has glorious humour, she is a no nonsense type of lady but she does like to laugh, just not so much at "sillyness..."
She went on to show me round the kitchen and all the jars she had steralised herself for the jams and marmalades. She had it down to military style, a total pro, showing again her no nonsense although she did share she did so love when she had little helpers however they could often slow her process down somewhat but she wouldn't have it any other way (that grandmotherly love coming out and surpassing the no nonsense side of her π).
She showed herself to me in her apron, she says she never takes it off!!! It is a constant, and usually smeared with flour and flecks and crumbs of bits and bobs from all the baking.
She showed me her hands they are large and the knuckles are very large and quite swollen, she says "they are not so bad today, some days they pain me some but I don't complain, who would listen, and how would things get done" she wasn't complaining or saying it in a "poor me way" not at all, just it's how it was.
I asked her about her hands and she said warm honey, she partakes in a lot of warm honey, it helps with swelling and soothing. She said she uses warm honey for everything it is her medicine. "Proper honey!!!" she says none of that fake stuff you modern people like to buy, although she did concede that many were starting to revert back to "proper honey" which does give her much to smile about!!
As she showed me round the kitchen I saw something covered in a tea towel, she told me that was her latest batch of scones.
She told me she always always has a batch of scones made, "cover them in a tea towel my dear you can't go wrong"
She makes her own cream to go with them, but as she said sometimes warm out of the oven all you need is a good ol dab a big one of course of butter!! And yes young lady real butter, not that yellow container of who knows what!!!
She showed and told me she did everything by hand, and made all things from scratch and used fresh products, none of that "artificial garbage" she went on to talk about foods and got quite flustered and couldn't think of the word she wanted to use when she talked about a lot of the foods in the supermarket now. Only now as I sit here I realise she was trying to say processed. "No artificial, no processed..."
As she got closer to me I could smell that comforting smell she smelt like oranges, sugar and all things citrus~y
She mentioned she also was a dab hand and ALWAYS had on hand a good Fruit loaf, she said scones and fruit loaf always on the ready in her kitchen.
She didn't like to waste anything either, left overs and "scraps" were all made into something and then any other left over "crumbs" she gave to the birds. Let me tell you she said there are some very well fed winged ones around here and they thank me with their beautiful bird song...
As we walked along she looked to pass me a mug, a hot steaming mug of something
I asked her what it was and she said
"Here we are my dear, a good ol warm cup of love, this'll do the trick, there's nothing like a warm cup of love whether it be tea you fancy, a good ol cocoa with Granny's special cream and magic ingredients sprinkled on the top, or for some wee ones a good ol warm cup of milk will do the trick however young lady I have a feeling you would screw your nose up at that politely of course..." she laughed and laughed and gave me a nudge.
I thanked her for walking with me today, it felt so lovely having her along with me. She said she did so enjoy the chat with me.
I asked her was there a reason she felt like joining me today, she said she just felt her granddaughter really needed some love from her today and she saw me there and knew I would understand.
To her gorgeous granddaughter a warm mug filled with love she then went on to say could she pass on a message to all.
I said of course she could
She smiled, wiped her floury, hard working love filled hands on her apron, her eyes twinkled, the colour from her beamed
She said "to ALL of you Grandchildren out there, granddaughters and grandsons today on behalf of all grandparents in all way shapes and forms I give to you this warm mug filled with love, we all need a warm mug of love and a grandma's love well my dears it fills to the brim and then some and today to you all I fill all of your mugs with sweet warm love..."
She raised the mug/s as if to pass them to me, smiled that twinkly smile and gently faded off into the ethers...
A beautiful moment ~ a sacred moment
I could feel Nicky bobbing next to me in utter excitement
I called him in close and thanked him for helping bring her through for me and for us all with that beautiful mug of love
Nicky's reply
"Are you KIDDING ME ANTHIE!!! I got to have a Masterchef Baking Class with Gran!!!!!" I am in baking and sugar delight, I am dusted from head to toe in sugar and flour and oh those delectable smells. A dream come true for me Nicky too, I in my own beautiful way also received Gran's Warm Mug filled with love..."
