Quiet Mind Meditation

Quiet Mind Meditation Sarah is a meditation teacher based in Melbourne (Australia) and Founder of Quiet Mind Meditation (2009) and The Meditation Box (2022) Life is busy. And noisy.

After a long and challenging corporate career that came to a crossroad following the Global Financial Crisis .. Sarah took herself off to a meditation retreat and realised it was time to share her passion for meditation (her secret weapon in life) through Quiet Mind Meditation. Having meditated for more than 20+ years, Sarah is well aware of the challenges that life can present, and is eternally grateful that she learnt to meditate as a teenager .. and continued to meditate through all the ups and downs and meanderings. We are constantly bombarded with information .. words, thoughts, sights, sounds, smells .. that cause us to live in a state of perpetual edginess with no time to processes everything. But when we live on 'fast-forward' we miss the moments we have right now, and this can leave us with a residue of something missing. We disconnect from life and our sense of self. The ability to be both extremely relaxed physically and mentally, while remaining alert and awake, is one way to describe the meditative state. Research clearly shows that a regular meditation practice teaches us how to self manage our stress, which positively influences our inner biochemistry; improving our physical and emotional health, providing more restful sleep and improved energy levels alongside increased ability to cultivate positive emotions and a deeper understanding of who we are in our quietest moments.

This quote speaks to something many of us quietly carry … the “trance of unworthiness.”

Tara Brach describes it as the feeling that we are somehow not enough… not doing enough, not being enough .. and the way that belief separates us from our true nature and from a sense of belonging.

Her book ‘Radical Compassion’ offers us a different path - one of mindfulness, kindness, and learning to meet ourselves with care instead of criticism.

As we move toward Autumn - a season for turning inward and softening - this feels like a beautiful companion for the journey.

It is also our feature book in the Autumn Meditation Box (another offering from Sarah @ Quiet Mind Meditation) - and there are just -

🎁 3 boxes remaining for this season.

If you’ve been longing to reconnect with yourself in a gentler way, this may be the invitation you’ve been waiting for.

Meditation doesn’t have to look just one way - that’s what I love about my own meditation journey - from traditional to contemporary, mantra to mindfulness, and in recent years movement and bodyfulness.

Exploring Meditation is where I share my journey and experience … so you can find the practice that suits YOU
. it’s not about perfection, or doing it “right.”

Exploring Meditation is a gentle, 40-day course delivered each morning at sunrise, with a daily practice to quietly guide you back to presence.

Each day builds on the last, giving you space to explore different approaches and discover what actually supports YOU.

Meditation really isn’t hard … it just needs to meet you where you are.

✨Exploring Meditation is now an ‘evergreen’ course .. so you can start whenever you’re ready! ✨

My meditation practice hasn’t always looked the same.

Tonight I went looking for one photo - but found some wonderful old memories - teaching classes, leading retreats, learning and expanding my practice over the last few years!

There were times when stillness felt nourishing - and other times when it felt impossible.

Times when structure was supportive, and times when it felt like pressure.

What I’ve learned is this:

Meditation isn’t something we arrive at.

It’s something that evolves as we do!

When we give ourselves permission to explore different approaches, meditation becomes less about discipline and more about listening.

This way of working with meditation has been quietly shaping a new self-paced course, opening soon 🤍

Many people don’t struggle with meditation because they lack discipline.

They struggle because they’ve been taught (or have heard) there’s one “right” way to practice.

Sitting still.
Clearing the mind.
Doing it the same way, every day.

But meditation definitely isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Different practices support different nervous systems, seasons of life, and inner landscapes.

Sometimes we need stillness.

Sometimes we need guidance.

Sometimes we need movement, breath, or simple awareness woven into daily life.

When meditation meets us where we are, consistency becomes so natural … not forced.

I’ll be sharing more about this soon 🤍

So often we approach meditation as something to get right —

to be good at, consistent with, or finally master.

But meditation has always been an exploration.

A gentle meeting with ourselves, exactly as we are, in this moment.

More soon 🤍 … I can’t wait to share what’s been quietly taking shape.

This is my first ocean cruise, but while my body travels … I know that I haven’t truly left home.

Because meditation always brings me ‘home’.

This week though has been a delight on so many levels, and my meditation has also been refreshingly interesting!

Meditating on a moving vessel with the ocean constantly rolling, rumbling and rocking … never with a predictable or steady rhythm - heightens curiosity.

And there is something deeply honest about meditating on this massive body of water - the body moves. The floor moves. Nothing can be controlled.

As meditators, we’re always practicing letting go - and the ocean is teaching me this yet again, effortlessly, after 30+ years of practice.

Being curious, instead of resistant, invites us:

to soften,
to breathe,
to release.

Then the motion becomes just a gentle reminder - to trust, to allow, to be carried.

To my surprise, the movement has become deeply restful.

Mind, body, and breath settle quickly, almost as if recognising something familiar.

Then there are moments when there is no edge between us … just breath, mantra, water, awareness.

Not traveling anywhere.

Simply resting at home, as the ocean moves.
